From a contest in Japan, looks like it has a cutout in the fuse for the prop,  is it me or is it flying just a little slow...lol

  That is a Challenger, designed I think by Charles Mackey?? Search that name out and I think there was a thread about it in the last few years. Was published in one of the magazines. Just intended to maximize line tension!! There have been at least one or two designs with majod offset like that through the years, one that used another engine mounted out at the tip and cocked at an angle.

This kind of builds on a few earlier designs two from Charles Mackey - Monster (https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=12884) and Red Wing (https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=12878) and one by Jim Mayfield called the Charger (https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=7043).

These ships were designed to be different but stay out on the lines in all kinds of conditions. The idea was to align the engine thrust line through or very close to through the CG, eliminating the yaw moment but pulling the whole ship outward. Mackey supposably built a few others ships with this concept but they were not published and the concept slipped into stunt history. Nice to see someone expand a little on it.

It would be great to see a new thread about C. Mackey's innovative designs. I always wanted to build the Monster and also his Crusader twin boom design. I have a Crusader kit from RSM and I did build a Monster recently, which is still not finished. Unfortunately. I had to hang up my C/L handle for good due to medical reasons.

  Mayfields Charger is what I was trying to think off, but was in a hurry to get out the door and thought I saw "Challenger" on the wing. The builder of this one just made it full fuselage. Flying slow is nice but I think as certain weights you can fly too slow!! I imagine you loose a pretty good percentage of forward thrust and this air speed with the wild offset angle. I wouldn't turn down an opportunity to fly it just to see what it was like. The Monster was the other one I could not remember.

I was witness to a flight of one of Mackey's designs at Whittier a number of years ago .  I do not remember the pilot.  I also do not remember which one it was - either the Monster (FM Feb '62 for a Fox 35) or the Red Wing (Dec 63-Jan 64 for smaller engines like a Frog .049 diesel, about a 36" span).  The airplane was probably the Monster.  The flight was in a strong wind.  The airplane was in some sort of vertical maneuver, at least near the top of the circle and the lines went completely slack.  It was like the airplane decided it did not want to be there and promptly went to the end of the line and the flight continued on.  It was impressive.
