I seem to remember that the Stanzel Co. produced a kit for one back about 1945. Also the Brits did indoor "Around the pole" flying with rubber powered models.

Local free-flighter Jean Andrews flew one of those at a long-ago VSC.  No stunts, of course, and it seemed the flight time was around about a minute...perhaps less.  As I recall, his model did resemble a Stanzel Shark.  If anyone would like to ask him about it, let me know, and I'll send you his email address.

There was a small rubber powered CL model published in an Aeromodeller Annual, but I cannot find it right now.  (There are only 30 of those things to look through.)  It was designed to do loops.  It was similar, if I recall correctly, to a Jetex powered CL stunter, also in an Aeromodeller Annual.  I have that one.

About 15 years ago our indoor free flight group were getting a little stale and needed a shot in the arm.  Idea We decided to try our hand at having a rubber powered control line contest. We had a barrel of fun with the following events:

1. Distance - the greatest distance flown on one winding.
2. Speed Dash - Fastest time for two laps  .
3. Balloon Burst - Fastest time to burst the balloon.
4. 25 lap Team Race - multiple plane race with the required pit stops for rewinding.
5. Stunt - Most stunts (loops etc) done in 5 flights, bonus points for complexity.
6. Combat/Demolition Derby - Multiple plane event, last plane down wins  Devil.

The Rules:
1. All the parts of the disassemble plane must fit or be drawn on a 11" by 17" sheet of paper.
2. Planes must ROG.
3. 8" prop.
4. 20' heavy thread lines.
5. 10 gram motor. This is 10 feet of 1/8" wide rubber looped to either 4, 6 or 8 strands depending on event.
6. No restriction on construction materials.

My designs were called the "Latex-Lancer" and are shown in the photos. We used to demonstrate these models to kids in the schools and let them have a go at it. These models work best in a gym or other indoor facility. For stunt you need at least a 30' ceiling. Although the flight times are rather short, the competition makes them a lot of fun  .
