info on merlin profile stunter?
« on: August 02, 2020, 06:54:56 PM »
I was given a kit in a plane box called Merlin stunter. It came from an estate.   Looks to be 70; 80 vintage.

There is no plans, only a typewritten instruction sheet signed by someone with initials JJ

It is a profile, about 36 inches big rounded wing tips, constant chord wings.

Nice thick wings, band saw cut parts.

Any info or plans?

Wasn't this a Magician clone from J&J sales?

Do people ever move the tailplane back to where it looks as though it ought to be?  Any good?

Back when I started to fly competition in beginner class around 1987, that was a common modification to Magicians. I think we know much more about control geometry, lead out adjustments and adjustable handles that it is just not necessary. I think it looks better stock anyway and flies just fine that way. Ask Jim Kraft!

Try over on the Barton site.   But then again the one I remember there had a built up fuselage.  Can you get a picture of the plan? ???

There is NO PLAN in the box or I could find.  It was a lot like american pickers in there.

Looking for a plan.

There's a couple of Magician plans on Outerzone. 48" and 34" spans. Does either one fit what you have?

I built a Blue Pants as a kid. Wish I still had it. Might even learn to fly it.

the fuselage is clearly a magician clone full sized.  It will be a fun build.  Had one in 1977 with a fox 40 big case.  Probably use a fox 35

I'm 99.9% sure that is from Joe Just as J&J sales.
