Title: Indy CL Club fly Tuesday evening
Post by: Clancy Arnold on May 05, 2010, 06:25:18 AM
I flew my Super Ringmaster last night at our club flying session. It is powered by an OS 25 FSR and has my U/Tronics throttle control. I also flew my Ringmaster Trainer with a Blue Bird 25 with U/Tronics. Both planes performed well. Both engines are pulling 10 x 6 props.

We had 4 people flying tonight, Steve Couch who is the current CL FAI Scale champion. Jack Sheeks who gets dizzy easily, flew my Super Ringmaster. Jim Vornholt, 1960 & 1961 NATS Stunt champion, who had not flown a CL model in 35 years until tonight, flew my Ringmaster Trainer. When he would start to get dizzy he would retard the throttle until it passed. His next two flights were on Jack Sheeks Profile Stuka Stunter. By the third flight Jim was doing stunts. Just like riding a bicycle they say. I put up three flights. First on the Ringmaster Trainer to check it out then turned it over to Jim Vornholt to fly. Then My Super Ringmaster, with Little Marvin on the throttle, to check it out. Jack sheeks then flew it and when he got dizzy he did a power on landing just like he used to do in CL Scale. I took it back up and while doing a very low pass caught the weeds at the edge of the parking lot and flipped it over. Broke the stab loose. 5 minutes tomorrow with some CyA glue and it will be as good as new.

Great to see that Jim is flying again. It won't take long before he is knocking everyone's socks off.

Dennis
I hope you did not go to Jacks house.  If I had your phone number I would have invited you to ride out with me.  I guess I should have sent you an email.
Sorry,
Clancy

For those of you who want the technical info,
The Super Ringmaster is powered by an OS 25 FSR and is pulling a 10 x 6 APC.
The Ringmaster Trainer is powered by a Blue Bird 25 and is pulling a 10 x 6 Master Airscrew.  Jack was surprised that a Blue Bird 25 could pull a 10 x 6 on 2 year old 10% fuel.
