I don't see much mechanical advantage.

I find that it allows better control and is more comfortable to hold than a standard Exacto.  Maybe others wouldn't Perry.  Might just be personal preference.

It is a Fiskars finger tip cutter sold at most sewing type stores like Joanns fabric or Hancock and I have seen them in Hobby Lobby usually around $5.00

I actually like shopping with my wife at these stores as they have a lot of hobby related things. Many of my large and small cutting boards are bought as part of my wife's shopping when she uses her 20% to 30% off coupons for the whole purchase

Thanks guys.
As someone starting in on a divorce, I am on a real budget now.
But at least I don't have to "cut this tool in half".  ::)

I'll survive.
I better or she won't have an income.

Amazon - $4 http://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-163050-1001-Fingertip-Craft-Knife/dp/B001480O26

Oops- watch the shipping!

Not the same tool.  Compare Mike's pix with that one.

My mistake it is the same tool.  It is hard to see the wraparound on Mike's pictures.

I'm going to have to try one.  My regular one makes my hand cramp after awhile because of the arthritis.  Thanks for the tip! H^^

Glenn, I have the same problem.  This works like an extension of your finger.

I'll take a look for one. Our Joanne moved far away, but I have a Hobby Lobby nearby. I was excited when a new Michaels opened right down the street. I went in and bought some nice balsa, and then found they had ZERO other hobby building supplies... nothing I call a hobby anyway. I asked about some cards of K&S tubing and sheet metal only to get an open-mouth glazed stare. I told her I build model airplanes from balsa and need sheet metal and tubing for fuel plumbing. Ooohh, she said. We don't carry those sorts of hobby supplies. No cutting and sawing tools, decal paper, no nothing.

A week later on the first weekend of October, a 1000 year level flood washed them away Lol! Bye bye Michaels, wherever you are... out in the Atlantic by now maybe. Or strewn like litter on the riverbanks between between here and Charleston.

One is a model shop, and the other is a craft (not to be confused with Kraft) shop. I get decal paper, sanding tools, and many other things there. My wife always gets two coupons for 40% off which I can use for one item. They also have great stickon vinyl letters in different sizes for those of us that have trouble masking them.

I am a rural guy, like a lot of folks here, and must travel a goodly distance to any semblance of a LHS and in my case they cater to RC cars and have a poor selection of anything related to RC much less control line aircraft.

Closer to me a JoAnns and a hobby lobby (the kind with a bizzion plastic flowers and picture frames and wicker baskets)

I get quite a bit of hobby craft stuff from both and either usually has some ad for a discount I down load to my cell phone right as I am waiting in line at the cash register

Actually my Hobby Lobby has a couple of isles devoted to modeling, mostly plastic cars and airplanes and a few pine wood derby and rail road items, but they do have a great selection of paint, airbrush, knives, sanding items, and in the drafting area are great french curves, rulers, mat cutting stuff and a host of other useful items....

about the only thing that sux is their selection of bass and balsa is never replenished--- but I see bins for all the stuff we need same as any old skool hobby shop where we picked through until we found what we wanted size and weight

Over in the "sewing notions" area they have a great selection of scissors, rotary cutters, and fiskars cutters like this thread is all about

I may try one but I've always "steered" my knife by twisting it between my fingers in combination with a cutting board on a lazy-susan bearing. Don't know if I could control it well enough but it's worth a shot. My hand cramps up too so maybe I'll have to learn all over again how to cut out parts.
