Identify this muffler please?
« on: April 22, 2020, 09:38:33 AM »
I'm almost positive it's a FOX but I just want to be sure.

I don't want to misrepresent the item when I offer it for sale.

Thanks in advance.

Looks like a Fox .40.
I may be wrong but I doubt it.

Here is a Fox .35 bearing a very similar muffler. The mounting bolts are about 38mm center-to-center. More measurements can be taken if needed.

Yes,

I'm convinced it's a FOX, same construction different footprint.

I'll post the whole spread measurement when I put it up for sale.

Could be a Faux Fox. I've never owned a Fox muffler, but I've seen them. Mostly used on OS FP/LA .35 > .46, or K&B .40's. The bolt patterns are close enough due to the 4-40 bolts vs. the 3mm bolts. The one Avaio has could be for one of the later bb .19/.25 cases.  y1 Steve

If the bolt hole spacing is 1.0625 +_ a foot ,in Fox talk, and the opening is 5/8 x 1/4 it will fit the .40.

Comparing the picture from Avaio and 944_Jim, and the fact that the latest .19/.25 would have (?) to adapt to both side and rear exhaust configuration, I'm thinking it's more likely for a 6 bolt backplate Fox .15...at least, I think they had 6 bolts...the tall backplate variety, anyway.   D>K  Steve

My first thought was late model Fox .25, though c-c measurement is the way to get an answer.

Btw, Schnuerle .15 has a tall backplate, correct, four holes.  The 36 Combat Special, six.

Last square back plate plain bushing Fox 25 and Fox 35 share the same muffler. Probably fits the same era square bp .19 too.
Last 45, 46 & 50 same
Last 60 & 74 same.

Yes I too believe that these are for Fox .40 engines; one is a tilt up and the other is a tilt down two different designs both very effective.
