   Hi Jim;
    The Ice-O-Lated contest is usually held on the last Sunday in February. It was held on the wrong date last year due to an error looking at the calendar. The Lafayette Esquadrille usually finalizes it's contest schedule for next year at the November and/or December club meetings, and as soon as all is squared away, we'll get something announced. We don't do too much to promote this contest, due to the REAL high possibility that weather will get in the way. We've been snowed out, rained out, blown out, and flooded out over the years, but we have also had it where we were flying in T-shirts under beautiful clear skies watching the bald eagles fly! y1 We know and realize that it's a gamble for anyone to come from out of town, but have had some surprising large turn outs for it, and on the flip side, like last year, only had a few people show and only one or two flights put up. It's held mainly for fun and if the weather cooperates it is a lot of fun and a good way to get rid of some cabin fever. Stay tuned for further information as it becomes available.
  Type at you later,
   Dan McEntee

I will never forget the first Ice-O-Lated that Emmy and I attended.  I looked at temp gauge above the windsheild in the old Ford and thought to my self I am crazy.  It showed 27F as we passed thru Columbia MISSOURI.  Pulled into Buder Park and it showed 32F.  That after noon Emmy and I got our flights in and Emmy got her trophy.  I will never forget when she asked me if she could take the little trophy.  She slept with it all the way home.  My daughter said she took it to bed with her and then to school that Monday.  It was 47F on the way north to 40 highway.  Will be back again, Lord willing and the Ford gets fixed.  Would get another vehicle, but, I like the fit of the Ford.  By the way I was on planning on going until it was pointed out to me that I had already missed it this year H^^.
