Title: I think I will cut myself some kits
Post by: Mike Griffin on May 01, 2015, 02:26:07 PM
Once I finish the Mobest build and get those kits in the mail, I am going to cut myself a Squaw, a Papoose, a Brave and a Chief.  I am just a nostalgic kind of guy.  And since I have lost 75 lbs since the surgery, once they are finished, I am gonna go fly those babies.

I'm looking for the giant "thumbs up" emoticon to give you but can't find it.

Sounds like you have a lot of things going good right now.  Hope it continues.

Thank you Phil, I appreciate it.  Losing thus weight gave me my life back and my wife's life back.  Finally again, we are able to go places together and enjoy life.

Hi Mike,

Are you going to honor your deal that you made with me at 1/2 price on another kit to make up for that CRAPPY wood in the two kits that I bought from you? (The Zephyr and Playmate.)  ::)

And if you do, I sure don't want ANY heavy wood..........just saying. n1

Some posts are better if sent in a private message...
I'd rather not read other people's personal business.
I'm just saying.

Kind Regards to all.

That negative person would not be happy if you hung him with a new rope.

Gerald,

I am trying to come to grips with exactly how to respond to that kind of post.  Is this some kind of attempt to publicly embarrass me?  Let me respond in this manner,

First of all,  the Zephyr and the Playmate were kitted several years ago and you bring this up now in a totally unrelated post WHY?.  The CRAPPY wood as you called it, was contest balsa furnished by my laser cutter, Eric Rule and you were the ONLY person who has ever complained about the quality of the contest balsa in ANY kit I have ever
produced and Eric at RSM has furnished every piece of laser cut balsa I have ever used.

This is the kind of stuff that makes me question why I even try to contribute to an already struggling modeling cottage industry.

Mike, I'm excited to see you planning on these builds. A friend and club member here in las Vegas frequently flys a papoose with an OS15 LA. It's his little ol' faithful. It flys great and looks so cool.

Mike,
Some folks were born to be ignored.  Mr Arana is one of them!

Very happy to hear about your weight loss.

I have one of your Playmate kits and the wood is 1st class!

When you get good and bored, please contact me with a price and recommendation of a kit for me. I'm a new or retread C/L flyer and am collecting kits/plans for building right now.
Kind Regards,
Chris

Thank you Dane and Randy.  I feel better now than I have in years.  The support and encouragement you all have given me, lifts my spirits very much.

Chris, I would be more than happy to help you with that.  Do you have an idea of what you would like such as a profile or full fuselage and what size engine you want to use?

Mike-
I'm open to whatever. As long as it will be a good flyer, I'll build just about anything!
While I have one glow plane and one e powered arf on the bench, and prefer e power, I'm open minded, and my flying buddies love glow.
I'll probably just buy a dedicated motor or IC engine on your recommendation.

Jerry, no worries, we all get a little would up sometimes.

Regards all,
Chris

Hi Mike,

I am very happy to hear that your surgery has been a success!  I know you are feeling great.  I bet the back and knees are feeling better. y1

Excellent choices for new planes.  The old Veco subjects always seem to fly well and look good too!  I need another Papoose myself, the one I had 40 years ago brings back great memories. ;D

Keep your head up and keep losing that weight!

Mike,

I've seen many photos of your work at different stages, you do a great job! Excellent in fact.

Eventually you'll come up with something I'm interested in and I'll make a purchase.

If you ever want to kit David G. McClellan's Focke Wolf Fw 190-9,

I'll be glad to help with some of the vector art needed for laser cutting.

There's already a bit of interest in that model.

Hey! You look great, and keep up the good work!  H^^

This kind of post doesn't deserve to be here. You must be the only one who got crappy wood if you really actually did? Sounds more like wanting something more for nothing. If the wood is so bad why didn't you just simply send the kit back?

Good question. Short answer; He said he'd give the next kit at 1/2 off (won't go into all the details) and besides I like the airplane and have LOTS of 4-6 LB wood which I can substitute for the "Nosen Select" heavy wood.
Want something for nothing? Oh Cointreau monsieur. n1  No way in 'L do I want something for nutting! But I do want what I paid for.  y1

Fielding Mellish, Apparently you don't know the difference between a "Happy" customer and a troll........just saying.

Jim,

Looks like it's only you and me that have interest in the Focke Wulf?

I have no issues with cutting myself a kit, however, I hate making ribs and each rib is different.

Keith's award winning Focke Wulf could be a good beginning, just shorten the nose?

See what the span is on Keith's design and a few other measurements? Have to get some information on that model offering.

Mike,

You're not going anyplace. You are needed!  H^^

Why shorten the nose?  Do you know something about the limitations of this design?  This airplane flew fairly well.

66 Nats - 5th
68 Nats - 5th
70 Nats - 1st and Walker Cup
08 Nats - 1st Classic
