PAMPA’s first decade....
« on: May 17, 2020, 11:18:20 AM »
Of Stunt News,  1973-79 has now been uploaded to the PAMPA website for members to enjoy.  Chris says he should have the the rest up to 2006 uploaded within the next month. (It’s a LOT of work).  Issues from 2007 to date have been there for some time.
This first decade of material will provide hours-days-weeks? of great reading material and stunt history so please enjoy!!

   Much appreciation to you Dave and to Chris for taking in this on and preserving a great deal of the history of this event. Those of you who have no idea what was behind the origins of PAMPA and the history of our event will enjoy reading these and catching up. There is a wealth of knowledge in these also. The early years of Stunt News was just a few page newsletter and grew over time with the event due to the work of several people that you will find out as you explore them. I think it's more than awesome that they can be seen and read now by anyone that is interested and keep all that information and memories alive.
    Thank you VERY MUCH!

Wow, that was a lot of effort. I have many of them from the early years and most were mimeographed and hard to read at times.  H^^
Yes some were and are hard to read.  You'll find a few just as hard to read on the website in places just because the scanner could only pick up what it could see.  It can be a little like lip reading a few words you couldn't quite hear but overall it's not bad.
Has been a laborious but entirely worthwhile project.  The third musketeer here was Keith Trostle who lugged his whole collection down to the Team Trials so I could borrow them to be copied.  His, and Tom Morris' are the only complete collections I know about.  I've wanted to get the collection at the AMA museum completed and Tom as well as Bob Hunt have offered to help with that.  They have the opposite problem we had- they have most all the early stuff (with some holes) but had nothing in the last two decades.  With our web-library and the museum the wealth of knowledge from the last 70 years of stunt will be preserved for the future on paper and in digital format.  Going forward the website itself will be the repository of 'new' history.

    Hi Dave;
    I don't remember when I first joined PAMPA but it had to be in the late 80's to early 90's, and have all of mine from that time until now. I have also accumulated copies from other people's estates that I need to sort through and organize and hope to do that while I'l still off work on furlough.I had communicated with Keith on when the first issue was produced just so I know when that was and what to look for and now that you have the early stuff posted I can have that to go by also. If there is anything that you may be looking for, let me know. I hated to see the hard copy go away, but understand why  and at my age with my collecting it's probably a good thing from that stand point! The basement, shelves, and filing cabinets are getting full! Again, I appreciate the effort that has been put into this and I hope all of the newer, younger PAMPA membership will take advantage of these and make use of them.
  Type at you later,

Thanks to You and Chris and Keith for getting these wonderful old documents uploaded.  It brought back a lot of memories and names of friends I had long forgotten.  It really took effort to put out those newsletters in the 70's.  I even found some articles I had written that I completely forgot about (and probably should have LL~)

It was fun seeing our current "PA Legends" names in the intermediates.
Again - Thanks Guys

Thank you Ken for your membership.  In case you didn’t catch my note elsewhere,  Chris got the 80’s decade put on there now so you have a lot more reading to do.  I believe we have now just about from 1990 to 2004 yet to load and the collection is complete.  As time goes on I’d like to see about adding a few more things to the library.  Don’t tell Chris- he might mutiny on me.  This is a really lot of hours work.
