Baby Rex?

I was at a competition today and came across this. It's a T-REX but smaller. (Compare to Legacy in front).

Is this a smaller .46 version? Can't be sure of the pilots name (Brian Morgan)?? but he confirmed it was a T-REX 600.

It went really well in typical British blustery  conditions.

Is this a kit, ARF? If it's available as a kit (Short or otherwise) I'm really interested.

thats a full size T-Rex - it is not bigger than a legacy -

Legacy span 59 3/8"
T-rex Span 60"


 I know as I have both of them hanging side by side on my wall............

Hmm, ok. It's the 1st T-Rex I've seen in the flesh.  It did not appear to be as big as I was expecting... Certainly not 60". It appeared quite compact in comparision with a number of the other models at the meeting.

it is not a big plane by any means!!!  I was a little surpised when I got my one

it is easy to tell it is an ARC/ARF due to the construction - particulary the wingtips...

Bradley Walker is planning on releasing a T-Rex 450 - which is smaller - but this has not been released yet.

         This indeed is the smaller T-Rex - Bradley kindly sent me the drawing a while back; it was built from this (not an ARF/ARC - I believe these are not avaialble yet but Brad might confirm??).  It is about 10% smaller that the 'big' one - 600 squre inches wing area and a span of 56 inches so not a lot in it but just that bit smaller.  On the drawing it says for .51 to .60 motors but I have an OS 46 LA in it and it seems to go well.  All up weight come out at 54 ounces.  Might be the first smaller version no longer extinct??

 1st off sorry for getting your name wrong above.. 2nd thank you for confirming I'm not going mad just yet.

I really wanted to ask more questions about it at the time but never got around to it. It's a really well put together example. Expect me to chase you down for more info next time we meet. 

It looks like it would make a very nice electric conversion.

It was my top sekret project...  Kev indeed built TWO T-Rex 600's from plans I sent him and told me he has been competing with them!! 

I have the T-Rex 600 protos here and I think it will blow away the original, I just have no idea about John's ARF building schedule.  The wing is the same size as a T-Bird 2, but the fuselage is only slightly smaller than the original T-Rex.  It is the killer...  I think.

Oops, perhaps we need a "Covert Operations" forum where we can post photo's and details of "The next big thing".... taken under the cover of darkness through a very long telephoto lens. 

Seriously though, I watched all of Kevin's flights and it went as good as it looks (And it looks very good indeed).  . I really would be interested in a short kit, or even a plan when it get's it's "official" unveiling" Shipping makes ARC/ARF prohibitive to the UK.

Sorry the secret is out - guess it is not possible to keep a good thing quiet for long!!   I would estimate that it is about 10% smaller than the big Rex.  I am putting a full size ARF together - as soon as it is done I will post a photo of the two side by side.  John - I will be at the Nats, catch me there and we can discuss in much more detail.
