1. What an outstanding forum! This set-up is so comprehensive. I just joined yesterday and having no choice but to stay out of the modeling arena for two years due to total destruction by Hurricane Rita, this was a welcome surprize.

2. The kits are now being re-vamped and as many of you remember, Kyle Tankersley of Tank's Hangar does all of my work for production. The prices have changed a little due to the Chinese market procuring so much balsa for ARFs. As far as exact pricing on each model, Kyle and I will have that locked down in the next few weeks. He has begun to run the SKY WRITER and next will be the CHINA CLIPPER. At the moment, he has the U-2 and BLUE PEARL (only one or two of each) still available. I will sell these two kits at the original price as was listed two years ago if anyone is interested. Once I get all of my advertizements and web page set up, they will change. Currently: U-2 @ $165 and the BLUE PEARL @ $190 plus appx. $20 shipping for the continental U.S.

3. Many of you have tried to contact me and I apologize for not responding. Until you have personally lost everything, you can't imagine how life's priorities can shift in an instant and stay that way for an extended time. I have never seen the Blue Pearl "in the flesh" but I have lusted after it from the pix!! Stunningly beautiful, to my eyes.

Hi Jim,

I did get to see (and talk with Henk) the "Touch of Pearl" at the 2004 Worlds. Really, really nice airplane and powered by a fairly stock ST G51. Henk said there was (obviously) a lot of Cobra and other Classic I-Beam styling trends he used for those planes. He's a great guy! (and a pretty good pilot, too.

That particular plane survived the storm with only a few holes in the silkspan. Some of my other planes did not fair so well. Notice the water damage of the photo (well you can't hardly miss it). This was one of the few photos that was worth saving. I'm still trying to learn how to post attachments onto e-mails. My main computer still has an eraser on the end of it!

I am going to put one of my ST .51's on it. I can't afford the high dollar stuff right now. As soon as the humidity drops around here I will begin to paint it out. It has been in a climate controlled store room for 1 1/2 years along with everything else. I'll try to get my U-2 on line tonight so you can see it.

ST G51s are really nice, IMHO!.

Can't wait to see the U-2, also! Is it the Warburton, or Adamusko one? give the particulars for it, too.

(memory is a terrible thing to lose! LOL!!)

Can you still convert to jpegs? If so, they seem to work best.

The U-2 is the Warburton , which is the original. He blew everybody away when that came out in the 60's because that plane in itself was still "top secret". It is said that the British secret service even paid he and his dad a visit. I have also talked to sources in England who verify that most all of Warburton's designs were done and constructed by his father. He was basically the flyer. You can tell right off the bat that I wasn't going for a scaleular paint job.! Is "scaleular" a real word?? DUH. Anyway, I had fun with the colors and the PAMPA logo. OK, I just did it to match her dress. If you will notice the outrigger wheels on the wing, as in the real plane, I must say that this is not a plane for grass take-offs. They will definately catch and whip the plane in a direction you do not want to go. TOWARD YOU! This one is .40 powered. Another thing you might be able to see on the photo is the verticle lead-out configuration. I only did it this way because that was what was on his original plans. No room for correctable adjustment on rake. This particular plane of mine was and still is, extremely sensitive to control input. It sure looks cool sitting on the runway. Also notice the flat tips (still his idea). This plane is rated "classic legal". Hope the photos make it through on this post. I'm tired of writing and probably can't remember what I said if I have to do it again.

Great story on Frank and his Dad, and a great plane!

I built one of Frank's *Tony* (Ki-61) back in the about 1971. Frank (I guess his Dad! LOL!) had some very nice flying planes!

I remember the story about the enquiry as to where the Warburtons got their information. It turned out that there had been a 3-view with enough detail published in Aeromodellor.

And then Air Progress came out with an article that told how UK modellers knew all about the top secret US spyplane—before Garry Powers was captured.

I think the Air Progress article came out after Powers was captured but it made very clear, the fact that readers of Aeromodeller knew about the U-2 some time before the rest of the world.

If I remember correctly "Model Airplane News" had a three view of the "U-2" spyplane in the mid to late 50's. I know I was still in High school. Great looking pictures of the planes and the gorgeous model holding them. Have fun, DOC Holliday
