I've heard that DeWalt and Ryobi are soon to release new generation cordless tools featuring LiPo batteries. That could bring down our hobby prices as well.
Possibly, although my understanding from a WSJ article of a few months ago was an emphasis on more capacity for these batteries.
Cost is always an issue, but substantially increased performance is the key point.
Seeing production volume go up due to an increased demand from these and other manufacturers will no doubt help in reducing prices, of course...
