Last night a local TV station showed this 2 1/2 minute presentation three times. Now we're famous.  Keith Varley

Great stuff Keith! I wish more local TV across the country would take interest and help educate the public like this!

That is great to get coverage like that.  It takes a dedicated person to get publicity for a club.  In the days of the "Flying Eagles of Kansas City Kansas" it was the Watkins,  George and Dorathy that contacted the papers, TV and radio mediums.  Topeka used to get good coverage years ago.  Still have paper in JJ my son is on the front page as a Junior competitor.  Just have to notify those involved months in advanced and then keep bugging them every so often others wise they forget.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

Very nice coverage.  I think that ANY good elevised coverage is welcomed; however, I think it would have been improved if there was a statement of there being good muffling now available to abate the "noisy toy" reputation that model aviation has endured in the past.  Stating that we sometimes use a "louder" model to attract the younger generation, then switch to muffled models so as not to irritate the older generations.  Anything to show good responcible leadership in the hobby.
Kudo's to the modelers and club that provided this good coverage.

Marvin,

It's been my experience that it's the yuppies that complain about the noise (at least around here). It's amazing how intolerant some are to others activities while being oblivious to the irritating nature of their own. Sigh... World we have made, I guess.

For sure that little presentation could have included many things to further our cause , but the producer follows his own format--  a half hour public interest show , with many smaller segmants about things of local interest. We were told that after he filmed a bunch of stuff , he would use about 2 1/2 minutes of material on our segment. The rest hits the cutting room floor , so to speak and it's done. We had no way to affect  the production that was aired . Needless to say we were pleased with what came out .In the worse case scenario it could have been very destructive to our club and the hobby /sport that we love.  Keith Varley
