Every year our local wing (144th) of the California Air National Guard host a "Family Day" in which the military personnel have their entire family come visit the base. This year they arranged to have a car show in conjunction with the day. My wife and I drove HER (make no mistake, it's hers!) car to the show, a 1967 Firebird that she bought in 1969 when she graduated from HS. The show was held in the hanger out of the sun; great! The down side was the two + hours it took to get "searched & cleared" to get on the base. They even had a sheriff with his bomb sniffing dog check us out, then each tire on each car had to be checked for any rock that might wind up where an F-15 could suck it in. It was a very fun day all in all, even got a great Tri-Tip lunch in the mess hall. Oh yea, I gave up a Sunday Fly Day, but it was worth it.
