Title: I found a practice field close to home
Post by: John Rist on October 25, 2016, 12:14:43 PM
I have found a baseball park about 5 miles from my house.  During school it is empty.  I have flown there twice and it works well for me.  Hopefully I can work on the pattern.  So far I have done some descent loops and some real figure 8 not the lazy 8 I have bin doing for the last 60 years.  My electric 576 Ringmaster is starting to fly well and is tight on the lines.  However right now it is flying 4 second laps.  I have jacked the RPM from 8.5K to 10K.  As time goes on I will try a lower RPM or perhaps a lower pitch prop.   Anyway a picture of my practice field is attached.   #^

There are some advantages to electric power.  You would probably have trouble flying glow there.  It looks like a great field.

Here, a cyclone fence usually means only one entry gate....and that one is padlocked. Good job!  y1 Steve

When the day comes that all I can fly is electric I'll go back to GOLF!

Good luck.  My guess is those folks in the houses will find some reason to complain anyway.  It isn't usually the noise.  Some people just can't have fun and can't stand to see someone else having fun!

Good luck anyway!  I'd be looking for a different place in the meantime!

We have a beautiful paved club flying sight provided by the City of Huntsville School Board.  Wind sock, rest rooms and the whole 9 yards.  But it is a 30 minute drive from my home.  I was was just looking for a practice field close to home.  The one thing great about living in the country folks are easy going. So far no lock on the gate and no complaints.   y1  y1  #^  #^

What Randy says is very possible. We've had several local incidents where people complained about the noise of R/C gliders and electrics. Objecting to others having fun is the only way to describe the situation.  :o Steve
