I would like to kit another I-Beam stunter but am not sure what you guys would want to see kitted.

I am looking for someting that would be for either OTS, Classic or N30

It would be for next year, so your suggestions would be appreciated.

How about an Ares or does that conflict with existing kits? If so, remember that Jack Sheeks has designed many I-Beamers over the years.

Personally, I'd love to see Jack Sheeks Knight kitted. Or possibly his Bewitched (N-30 legal). Hmmm, maybe the Torino or Scottsman (both I-Beamers, I think).

I think Walter already did the Torino and the Scottsman was a D-Tube, as I recall.

The Avenger is by Don Shultz, I redrew the plans for laser cutting and built this, finished it last year. It flies very well

No, Walter has not done the Torino. I built one, it is an I-beemer, and it flies pretty good. The Scottsman looks like a single fuse version of it, but the wing is, in fact, a D tube.

Not a problem Dick, and you are correct the La Donna was a great kit offered by Walter a few years ago. I watched Bob Brookins version fly at VSC, and even though he was fighting engine run problems, it looked to fly good with a lot of potential.

We started to do the F5F some time ago but with the small number of interested,
we decided to do it as a short kit at a later date.

The builder would get all laser cut parts but will have to provide things like the:
cowls, gear, canopy mounts and sticks etc...

if anyone is interested in the F5F we can start back on it and finish up the plans.

Brodak kits the "Ares". However, I think the " '62 Ares" would be a great addition and flyer. You might talk to Tom Niebuhr about the W.C. "Argus", with the nice wing shape. That's the one pictured in the AM article. Tom has info for the plans and may be planning on kitting it himself. If he's not though, then this would be a wonderful small classic.

There are plenty more, but those 6 stick out in my mind as some of the prettiest I-beamers out there.

The trouble with picking a kit is you have to pick one that more then one person is interested in then you actually have to have more then one buy one. It's a terrible business to be in. So treat them all well before the party is over.

If remember right, the Novi lll, and the All American Eagle share almost all the same numbers, except the AAE was never really campaigned like the Novi lll was.

Interestingly, they both, while being I-Beamers, did not use strip ribs. They used full ribs slipped onto the I-Beam, otherwise they were built exactly in the same fashion as those that did use strip ribs.

There are others that used this type of construction.

Dennis is correct in his evaluation. Picking a design is not easy because the kit maker needs to sell a number of kits before he can make even a small profit for his work.

Lot's of good suggestions here, Walter. Out of all of them the Minado or Talon would be my #1 pick. I would try to stay within the Classic era of designs because I think they will appeal to more people than a 70's design. Alot of areas (like here in CA) have not embraced the idea of a 70's class yet, so I personally wouldn't be interested in anything later than a Classic. Nowhere to fly it.

Edit: Stingray would be cool too.

Edit: I like the Atom, but it's kind of smallish.

I'd put a vote in for the USA 1 (I still haven't got around to building my Colossus). The Super Ares or Stingray would be cool as well.

And asking people what they want isn't always reliable. After being told by everyone and his brother that they desperately wanted to build a 1932 Ford Phaeton, my dad went to a great deal of effort to make a body for that model. We showed it at various street rod shows, and the response was almost invariably "Wow! That's gorgeous! I want one! Just as soon as I get my roadster built...". This happened even after "that" roadster got built. It was the perennial 'next' car. We did sell a few -- but not many.

You certainly could not go wrong with any of Jack Sheeks designs. I would look towards the Fly Baby and his ME-109 G for starters and although his Seafang was a foam wing, I think it would look cool as a Beamer. I realize it would take you away from the Nostalgia aspect, but it still would look nice. For the unique look go with his Stuntliner. If you want something rarely modeled, go after the Bernie Ash Supersonic Stunter. I would also suggest Rollie McDonalds Challenger. It appears to be the tricycle gear version of the one Bob McDonald flies at VSC in years past. I could go on, but I will stop for now.
