Title: Huntersville
Post by: John Rakes on October 15, 2006, 07:06:42 PM
Are there going to be any first timers at the Huntersville contest next week? From previous posts, this should be a really good contest.  Correction, all the Huntersville contest are great, but this one should be better.

I do believe the circles have been repaved and leveled, plus it's the 25th Anniversary meet.

Combat flyers will be at Winston-Salem Saturday. We plan on finishing up early to make it back to Huntersville for the dinner and raffle.
Hate that we have to be absent form Huntersville but the field is not suitable for combat at this time.
Plan on flying some 1/2a combat sunday.

Hey John,
I'm comming to huntersville, have'nt been able to go to this one in about three or four years.
You might want to bring your vidio camera because
I'm bringing that  "Yellow Cusader " out of retirement
just for this contest! It's been repaired but,the battle wounds are still visable.
see ya there.

Lwnn     Looking forward to seeing you. I flew on the new circles today and they are great. Everyone should be aware that there is a circle of mud two ft wide covered with hay around the circles. Don't wear your brand new sneakers unless you want them toned brown.

It was 80+ today but it should be 68-70 on Fridat Saturday. The leaves are just starting to change. It has been near 32-35 the last two years early in the morning. This year looks like it will be a lot warmer. Bill Little if you are looking  for a place to stay come and stay at my place. The price is right. Call me if you are interested.  980-622-4083.

Well,

I spent the morning with Tom Morris getting him used to his new AT .36 powered Profile Cavalier.  He's going to be flying for the first time at a contest since 1998.  Does that make him a newby???  Probably not..

We had a good day flying at the field today . The weather was overcast , light rain  a couple times , the rain is suppost to go thru tonight and be clear by midday tomorrow.

This was the first time I have flown on the Repaved/Enlarged circles . Really nice if you are on max length lines . We will be there all day tomorrow getting ready for the contest

I have a question. About how much did it cost to enlarge and repave the circles?

The flying site is a County  Parks Dept funded facility. We have not been told the expense  of resurfacing .Our Club, Metrolina Control Line Society is one of the AMA sanctioned clubs that uses the field .

We are very fortunate to have the flying site with three dedicated control line circles ( two paved ) and a very nice paved r/c runway with a 80 foot  control line circle on the end of runway.
