Here are a few pics from Huntersville. I had a great time and met some old friends and made a bunch of new ones. The weather was great and the event was very well run. Thanks to all the organizers workers and judges. I'm sure looking forward to moving down there in the next few weeks and getting in some winter flying. #^ #^ #^ #^
BTW-It was great to finally meet Sparky and Big Bear. Great Looking Tbolt Sparky. I still haven't figured out where Big Bear gets his nick name from. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I took a few videos that I will try and get posted in the next few days.

Hi Sam,
Thanks for the pictures! It was a pleasure to meet you (glad you got hooked up with Bad Andy) and I'm looking forward to having you living here in North By God Carolina. ;D
-
Sam not only posted some great pics but also won intermediate stunt on Sunday! Congratulations Sam. Bill Medders
-
It was a great contest. Thanks to the Metrolina club and all who worked the contest.

Here is Sparky warming up his P-47 early Saturday morning. That is John Rakes practicing for Profile in the background. I have many more pictures posted on the following WebShots site: http://good-times.webshots.com/album/561139566IARJXl

Yes, Michael, you DO have to make it down here, sometime! We have a lot of fun and you'd love it. You're welcome to come on down anytime!
-
I wish I'd taken a picture of the MiG erupting in flames after a flameout and hard landing. It was like an Indycar fire, you could not see the flames, but a blast of heatwaves and lots of agitated people till the fire extingusher came out. Dan spent hours taking the jet apart and cleaning out all the powder from inside it!
Mike, the rest of you Philly guys need to come down and check it out, its a great contest site!
-
I have some pictures of the fire being put out and will try to post them this week. And yes, there were FLAMES but don't know if i captured them yet or not since I took over 1200 pictures while we were there.
BTW.... Some asked if anyone had the scores for Sunday's Events. I have pictures of ALL THE SCORE SHEETS FROM BOTH DAYS! AP^

Great pics, thanks for posting!! Wish I could have made it.
Does anyone have the results of the PAMPA classes on Sunday?
Tight lines! :D

Sorry I can't give you any info. It's a great looking plane. Maybe someone else that was there can help out.
Here's a video of Kent flying profile on Saturday.

The 16th picture is Stan Powell's PAMPA plane. Large PA piped motor. (Don't remember which size or which Randy Smith design). Randy Smith design with gear in wing and reshaped rudder. Bill Medders

HI Steve
It is a Tempest ll from my laser kits, PA 61 RE powered bolly 12.5 x 4.5 3 blade.

Did Stan convert it to wing-mounted landing gear? I don't remember that from the original.
Sure looks good out there. :## :##

Hi Ron
Yes he did put the gear in the wing
He is now redoing it so he can put the gear back in the FUSE with a CF landing gear

Steve,
I would love to make it Huntersville some time. I also want to make Midgley's contest at some point also. To much to do and to little time.......
Dan has been putting off getting a CO2 extinguisher. It will eliminate the cleanup and corrosion caused by the dry chemical. I think he will come to Brodaks prepared next year!

This was a no BOM, no appearance points contest.
Just thought you guys might find that interesting considering all the planes.

Hey Sam,
Thanks for letting me see Derek flying again.
-
Hi Patrick,
I was hoping to see you down there. Maybe next year. I'm going to be about 2 hours away from Huntersville so you have a place to stay if you want.
Sam

Derek was flying a Staris borrowed from Gene Martine.
As you know, the Barrys are just now getting about set to be able to begin their reconstruction of their total loss in their shop fire. I guess Derek had probably 4 or 5 flights on the plane when he flew in Expert.

REALLY???????? **) **) **)
(I thought Eric just carried it up for Gene so Derek could use it....... ;D)
-
Randy,
Sorry I'm getting back to you late with a "thank you" about your reply. If you don't mind, why is he moving the gear back to the fuse from the wing location? I noticed 5 out of the 10 I could see in the expert line-up were wing mounts. I understand grass vs. hard surface is the usual reason. What's his? It DOES look good.
-
Sam,
What's the Deal?
No video's of the ONLY LADY competing at this event? And no video of Bob Dixon either? n1
Just Kidding! **)
