Huntersville contest is getting real close, the ramada is almost full, so make reservations fast, who is coming and where are you staying .
-
Hi Will
Made our reservations last week. Holley, my son Al, and I will be there Friday evening. I'll be flying Profile Saturday and PAMPA Sunday.
Rusty
-
Yikes! William wasn't kidding, the Ramada is almost full!
I should be there Friday, trying to test a new Dreadnought...
-
Just found these pictures of the field
-
I plan on being there Saturday morning as long as the move goes good this weekend. Not sure if any of the kids are coming yet.

The long range weather shows it cooling a little bit and being in the low to mid 70's Humidity 50-55%. Wind max 9mph. Sounds perfect to me.

Nothing like having a new model at a contest , you will have Friday and Saturday to get her trimmed and flying right

I can't make it this time , but I will be at Brodaks and I will do my best to come down in October.

Don't forget about the judges clinic on Friday evening, open to all judges and competitors ,
-
The drive is a bit much from Oregon. But dang, it looks like you have a nice flying field!
-
Let see if I can post a link to a google earth picture. Top is north
-
I can see the tree that clipped off Jimmy Welch's wingtip!
-
Me too! jimmy

wingtip still in the weeds to S?P y1 #^

As I recall it flew better without thw wingtip than with it, or as least just as well y1

Well it's a little too far for this old man to attend. Also it looks like the Polk City Contest is out of the picture. Its just north of Des Moines, IA. Hope you all have great stunt weather and have lots of fun.
-
I left the tail end of my muffler somewhere on the grass circle last Saturday. ::) Maybe the mower will find it for me.
-
I can see the tree that clipped off Jimmy Welch's wingtip!
Well the famous Jimmy Welch tree left us the winter, , seems like a group of hungry beavers cleared out the trees around circle one ,
They will be back this fall to finish up what is left
-
...nice beaver.

Weather was great today, , beautiful spring nc weather, 70 degrees, slight wind, most of the day less than 10 mph, stayed directional, carrier was well attended, combat was busy all day , both still going , but close to finish when I left the filed at 5 pm,
Attached are the results from stunt, A little bad news , Charlie Reeves damaged his well traveled big job in the first round of OTS and was unable to compete in the second round , light turnout in OTS, some of the normal competitors were busy doing other family events, and several were here just to watch, help out and judge ,
We had a lot of spectators , locals that came out and several control line retreads that came out to watch
Congrats to Tom Dixon. First place in profile flying his Red Tail Mustang powered by DS 54 Curtis Comer is back after some health issued with very good flying to second in profile
Bob Zambelli flew his Icarus jr in OTS to a well deserved first place , with period correct speed motor , great flight ,
fast loud and very precise
Nostalgia was won by Tom Dixon with a modified nobler , very nice model. A lot of great flying today , more tomorrow
-
Sunday results and classic planes. y1
-
Gene and Steve starting the motors on second round Sunday morning. Both had great flights one point apart. ~^
-
Congratulations to all! I hate to hear of any damage to models, but especially to one as striking as Charlie's BIG JOB!
Congratulations to Rusty whom we have followed for the past few months! You will be ready for Intermediate in Oct.! Just start working on the whole pattern now.
Even though I could not make it, I still want to thank all those of my friends who volunteer to judge, tabulate, etc., which always makes a MCLS Meet a success!

Thanks Bill, it was so much fun being out there with all of these great guys.
Being the avid story teller I am, I'll make a thread and write one from my perspective, but I'll wait until Will gets his report and pictures posted so I can get all the names and details right. So many interesting people and events. The experts had a major shootout, some close ties after the first round. I got some great videos of Mike Londke's combat guys fighting it out too.

Here's a little story I wrote about this weekend's adventure in another thread:

Thanks Phil, great to see you.

I see a proud poppa with his little girl. Tell her the old DOC likes her paint scheme.
-
Doc,
This one is for you, I know you have known David a long time , David Smith winning flight in intermediate, David is a top carrier flyer, that I talked into flying a Brodak vector that I had loaned to a guy at KOI, Ugly Betty is her name, he had one practice flight on Friday,
Good flight for a unfamiliar plane ,
http://youtu.be/usNUzc46yxI
-
he is a natural flyer , let him fly my F2C TR after the team trials and he put it in my hands on a one lap shut down on the first try
-
Does someone have the results from combat? Ken
-
Ken, e-mail sent to Howard. We'll get them up.
Rusty
-
1/2A- Mike Londke 1st. Don Stoneman 2nd. Speed Limit- Phil Cartier 1st, John Gibson 2nd, Chad Hill 3rd.
-
David is one of those few fine young lads that come along. First time I met him after he grew a lot was at a SIG contest. He flew my Bi-Slob like he had been flying it for years. I would not hesitate to put him on the handle of any of my planes. His Mother did a tremendous job raising those young men. Thanks for the video, it shows that I am going to have to work harder at my pattern.
-
For those of you that might not frequent the Combat section, I posted a few Speed Limit videos from Saturday, May 3. They flew some good matches.

Carrier results?
Joe
I will post them when I get home tonight. I haven't had much time since the contest.
David
-
People are so impatient. They want the results before the contest even happens it seems. S?P

For Carrier results see the Carrier section under Huntersville May 3rd.
Thanks
David
