« on: April 02, 2009, 03:42:04 PM »
I just got home and looked for Randy's tips for CL and I couldn't find it.  Where did it go?

I won't swear to it, but I bet he(Randy) took it down just in case someone didn't get the joke! Was pretty funny... ~>

He took them down because Apr 1 was over. They were a rather good satire of peoples views on things.

This was my favorite

Quote from: Randy Smith

Concentrated weight is a good thing , but it needs to be  centered and the CG, so we  will soon annouce the delivery of our newest item. The 4.5 inch cast iron bellcrank, it has excellent wear properties and helps immensly in stabilizing your stunt ship, You do still remember Newtons laws dont ya? A body in motion will stay in the same motion unless acted on by a greater force... with the addtional weight on the CG, it will not affect the turn rate, and at the same time will add  tremendous stability  ,and  much more  drive  thru the  winds, all the  while making the ship groove well.

Back in the Dark Ages (c.1989-1991) when I was SN editor---the little 16-page typewritten version copied and mailed by Don McClave---I published a one-time April Fool edition with things like, "Werwage Abandons Stunt For Golf".....stuff like that.  It went over fairly well, at least among those with a sense of humor.

Using this and other web sites, it might be fun to make that an annual thing.

I remember seeing Zero displacement engine article in one of the magazines years ago. I believe it was an April issue...

I was readying a post on my perpetual motion electric:  fan in front and a second motor in back with another fan but wired as a generator  Once moving the generator would power the front motor nearly forever.  But it would be equipped with a timer in case the pilot had to pee.  8)

I knew I should have copied it.  A lot of good/excellent advice down the drain that we could have used on our competitors.  Like when Carl Berryman asked me if I held my breath while flying a combat match.  It was fun reading.  DOC Holliday

I ordered one of Randy's new Cast Iron Bell Cranks so I could go from 11 oz wing loading to the winning number of 13 oz per square foot.

Using as small a prop as possible is conventional wisdom here.  I didn't see that it was a joke until I got farther down the list (I won't say how far down it took).

That's Ok Howard, I read it down the whole list, some literal and others like, That doesn't seem like a good idea.  And then Phil Granderson putting down putting melted butter on your handle got me wondering.

Howard by small , my meaning was , that would be an 8 x 8 on your Impact, shoot if your going to go small, go all out...makes for very tiny amount of that nasty precession  stuff! LL~
