This subject came up in another post so I thought I'd post Brian Eather's "how to". I don't think he'll mind.

Thanks, Brian. It appears that there are different tools and methods. This one is what Pete Peterson described to me. I'm not real sure how to go about sanding the prop hub faces, but I'm thinking that tracking is important. More details would help...or pictures... or pitchers!  010! Steve

I was wondering about sanding the face of the hub myself. That is really going to have to be square to the length of the prop. Maybe when Brian E gets back from the AUZ nats we can get some "how-to" pics from him. Unless someone else already has some to share?

Jim Lee sells sanding mandrles to face off the back of the prop ,if you have a pitch gage ,set it up so that you can check pitch about half way out. if one blade reads say 5.5 pitch and the other reads 6.5 it is not square ,with a good course flat file thake the high corner off and check again, doing this until both blades read the same which in this case would be 6 in of pitch. then with a pair of calapers match the front to the back.
