Who makes the kit or produces the drawings for the Gialdini Olympic, or the Grondal Nobler?

Brodak kits the Olympic Mk.VI.  The Grondal Nobler was published in Flying Models (can't remember the month).

It appears to be in Aug 2008 issue of FM..

"August 2008 Flying Models"

Just received my copy of the new FM mag, congrats to Allen Brickhaus and LeRoy Black for a great job on the Grondal Nobler article! Outstanding effort, great pics, very well written, and CAD plans to boot! Really nice looking ship; thanks to FM for continuing to support all areas of aeromodeling, especially C/L Stunt! Great job, guys!

Thanks for the info chaps. Now all I have to do is convince the lady of the house (she who must be obeyed!) to part with $109.99, or what ever that is in £'s sterling? + shipping to England.
The cheaper alternative is to get a set of plans, anyone got a set to sell or swap? Both models would be nice but I think I prefer the Olympic, but those fins look a little delicate?

In Flying Models in 2004, my grandfather did the product review for the Olympic.  He put a dowel through the fins and into the stab for them to be aligned straight.  I guess it also added strength to it.  So the fins aren't that delicate.

I have one of the new Lazar cut Brodak Olympics.  The wood is excellent, lazar cutting is perfect.  At the asking price it is a bargain, at the price you can get it from S&S it is a steal.  I plan build often but there is no need to with this kit available.  A bonus with the Olypmic is that you can use fuselage mounted gear (not included) and still be classic legal.  This is a nice feature if you fly off grass. Go for it! 8)

If you want plans contact Phil Granderson.  He computer drew an absolutely outstanding set of multiple sheet drawings of the Olympic from which he built one of his usual 20+ point beauties.  He generally lurks on the forums so should pick up on a request.  Hope he still has the files.

Thanks for the complement on the Olympic drawings BUT the real credit goes to Pat Johnston.  He is the "CAD Zen Master".  It is his work.  I simply added some color and tuned them a bit so that I would be able to see all of his great detail when building.

Hello Phil,

I hope you don't mind, but I sent you an E-mail, I think? (not sure if it went off?). Would you be able to sell me a set of Olympic plans?    Many thanks

FWIW: The plans in the Brodak kit are also drawn by Pat Johnston.  My guess is that they are one and the same.  Brodak will sell them separate from the kit along with rib sets.

Hi Neville,

Good News and Bad News

First the bad:
Unfortunately, I built the plane back in 2001.  At that time I owned a graphics company and had some very good equipment for printing.  I no longer own the company or the equipment so it would be difficult for me to produce plans.  Also, the file I had was reworked in a format specifically for that equipment.

Now the Good News:
I believe Pete (see above post) is correct in that Pat Johnston did the drawings for the Brodak kit so you may be able to get them from Brodak.  I also think Pat may be able to assist you.

Thanks for all your help chaps, I will e-mail him, and see what happens.  Its funny what turns you onto a design, last week I travelled 300 mies to visit my aged parents in Wales. My dad, also an aeromodeller, has had all of his old aeromodeller and model aircraft mags from the 40's 50's and 60's beautifully bound in their years.
While thumbing through the 60's mags I was returned to my youth! And there was a pictured I drooled over all those years ago, a beautifully buiit Olympic by one of our world champion team race pilots! And I wanted one all those years ago, but never got around to it, but that photo last week has re-kindled my enthusiasm for that model.

I wasn't born in 1969 when USA-1 was designed, but I drool over the set of plans I have for it and the magazine article.  I read it a couple of times a week minimum.  I could probably memorize it by now.  H^^
