        Hi All:

What is the best way to store your planes?

I hang mine by the leadouts in a wooden cabinet. Keeps mop and rake handles from making a hole in them.

My Shrike is too big to fit comfortably inside the cabinet so it lives in the danger zone. 🤣

Don't know if it's the best way, but it's how I do it.

I built 3 of these roll arounds. Got a lot of planes off the floor.

I built a high attic hanger.

As received the house had no stairs, floor, or lights in this area.  Lots of houses have unused attic volume.

From the tail wire (stooge loop).

They hang out like a bunch of bats.

Heard long ago to hang them like that to prevent oil migration in wood or oil clot forming at tank pickup.

If worried about the greasy wheels staining the walls (foam tires), I put post it notes under each tire.  Stooge loop has to be pretty secure, so you can jostle them around safely in place when dusting or if you change a prop, etc.

I store mine in a variety of ways, but mainly a bit like Kelly Hite does as shown in post above. I also hang some against the wall via a music wire hook that loops around the tailwheel. Frankly, it's getting to be a problem as I have more planes now than ever before. I know, nice problem to have.

By the lead-outs on a clothes hanger laundry cart and wire shelving racks...but not in the attic. I took over the hot water closet on the side of the garage. The hot water tank got walled/doored-off with fresh air intake from the garage and warm air vented to the attic (flue through the roof, of course)...except for during cold weather. Then the door gets opened to warm the remaining hobby closet space. Summer, I close the door and cool the hobby closet via a through-wall AC unit.
