Got out today for some test and tune....
« on: May 15, 2010, 01:57:44 PM »
Well the weather man was calling for T-storms this afternoon, but the morning sure looked nice. I called my flying buddy Arlan to see if he wanted to try and put in a few flights to get ready for our big Spring Fling next weekend. He was willing but had the engine off his only flyable plane. So I packed up the Tutor and headed to our flying field only to find that it was over ran by little base ball players. There was even a cricket match going on. First time I ever saw that played. I called Arlan and told him we were out of luck, but I would drive past a school that I found not too far from out field that might work. I did a drive by and the clover looked too high and a small tree looked a little to close to the open part of the field. We needed another backup plan, so we headed over to the soccer fields to find that it was covered in little soccer players, but the pratice field was open. Perfect!
Called Arlan and he showed up in a few minutes and we each put up 2 flights. He said it hunted just a little inverted and made a few adjustments. The way I fly and can not tell if it is hunting or grooving inverted. LL~ Has to be the lose nut on the handle.
Any way I was able to get thru a few patterns and Arlan explained some things I might can try to get my shapes better. Thanks Arlan for the help, it is always appreciated.
Here is Arlan flying my hand me down Tutor II that Zuriel pass along. Arlan said it is one if the better flying Tutors. I think Zuriel stiffened the tail, cause it does not seem as wiggley as other Tutors I have seen.
Got home just in time for lunch. And still waiting on the T-Storms. What does the weather man know any way. <=

Now back to work on my building project.... that tech support guy did call me back. The Slacker!

I did sheet the tail with 1/20th balsa.  I had flown a stock Tutor II and thought it was too flimsy.

Are you "Tanked" yet S?P

Tank it almost installed.
I tried again to call tech support late this afternoon and that Slacker took off early again! HB~>

Zip ties and foam. Just got done running the plumbing in the tank. I was head to my field box to get some fuel line and stopped here to check in.

Next the flaps!

Good shot of the Tutor flying.  At least you got to go out.  Drizzling rain here in Shawnee every time I stuck my head out the door.  So I got some more dope on the Thunderbolt and am finishing up a 1/2A started couple of nights ago.   H^^
