So, according the the weather services, we've had an inch of rain in the last hour (4 since yesterday) and the winds peaked at 59 miles an hour at Bremerton airport. They are expecting gusts up to 70 by later this afternoon. Power outages everywhere, but so far, not at my house (as he crosses his fingers behind his back). Don't think I'll be flying for a bit.

Rain here and of course cloudy. Little wind. Time to be in the shop.
-
Not that bad down here -- there's lots of rain, but it's coming down mostly straight. In theory there's going to be a lull tomorrow; I may go fly.
-
We are about to catch Hell here in New Orleans. Tornado and flash flood warnings and heavy rains, all moving in from Texas. Not going to be pretty.

40c today!! Hot, hot, hot! :P

Doc,
I grew up in central Kansas. The way I remember the weather is that there would only be several days each month when there was not much wind and hardly ever on week ends. Except in the Winter, then it would be too cold and I gave up trying to start engines when my fingers and toes got cold and stiff.

Here in warm, sunny Santa Cruz, it's about 60 (F) and not much wind. Actually a prefect day to fly and I did! But it was RC! ::)
Had to test fly my friends new electric Petnpol. (sp?) Oh well, flying is flying! ;D

This year in DFW it has been drought, then flood, more drought, then more flooding. It is either too hot, too cold, too wet, or too dry. Usually too windy as well except on a 100 degree August afternoon when you would like some breeze but there is none.
I put up with it because where I grew up (northwest Indiana, on the shore of Lake Michigan), the winters are horrible and sometimes there is not much of a summer. And, the DFW region has a fairly low cost of living.
At least I am not in Amarillo (amarillo is "yellow" in Spanish), the flattest place I have ever seen and the only place where you can be up to your butt in mud and have dust blowing in your face at the same time. I have no idea who decided to build a town in that part of Texas, or why. If there were a few craters around someone might think they were on the moon. I suppose around the year 1850 that is where the horse went lame and the wagon broke down. So, they (whoever "they" were) could go no farther and decided they might as well stay and make the best of it.
And, not much scenery there unless you want to consider Cadillac Ranch as a must-see.
-
Here in Miami, the rain has stopped, 80*, light wind. Time to plant my winter garden.
-
Wind's up now. I'm waiting for a tree to fall through my roof.

Jim, have you not heard of Palo Duro Canyon?
-
5 miles from Tim -- generator going powering two lights, and charging my phone. Fly tomorrow? You bet!
-
Gusts here in Pullman reported aproaching 65 mph,,
I got home and had to hack the rest of my continuous gutter of the rest of the front of the house,, while it was flailing around trying to beat me into submission,, reminded me of how I flew a few years ago LOL
not much rain,, lost power for about 30 mintues then it came back on,, well at our side of the street,, still lots of town without power
-
Not too good...but the wind has dropped off a bit in the last couple of hours. I hope the generator will start, in case the power goes out. That will provide power to the sump pump in the backyard. No natural drainage from the backyard, except for the neighbor's yards...into ours. Clay & rock, may as well be concrete. D>K Steve

Wind's done here. It was fun while it lasted.

Here in Tucson unseasonably cold high 60's during the day and 40's at night for the past several days. fairly high winds for past several days but fairly calm tonight forecast for more winds and same to colder temps for tomorrow and beyond.....Rats...this is usually our best flying season. Not so hot now and I don't mean the temp! Good building weather I guess but I've been having a lot of dental work done and now in a few days cataract surgery! i'm beginning to feel like I'm on a Merry Go Round and can't get off!!!
Rats!

Weather here, from the front deck.

Jim, have you not heard of Palo Duro Canyon?
Yes, I have heard of Palo Duro (hard stick/wood) but never had time to see it. So far I have only seen the photos. One day I will get up there to have a look. I suppose it is easy to omit a place when you have never seen it in the flesh. So, the only thing that comes to mind for me when I hear "Amarillo" is the flat land and that bizarre "art exhibit" along I-40.

It has been the wettest fall on record here in the Charlotte NC area. Several times it has rained for a week straight with lots of low areas flooding. The weather has been nice for the last week with around freezing in the morning and 50-60's in the afternoon. Not good flying weather but good weather to be outside and raking leaves. Beautiful colors in the near by mountains this year.

Over here, on the other side of the pond in southern England, we've been getting plenty of wind - gusts of 60-70 mph and the usual trouble with fallen trees and power lines, but not much rain. All the rain's been up north, so far. It's been mild for November, 50 Fahrenheit, but the word is that the mercury's about to plummet. We may even get some snow - VERY unusual in November!
Regards
John

Days are getting short. A few degrees above freezing. Damp. Gloomy. The clouds and wet and dark ground swallow all light. For the weekend, a few degrees below freezing and a little snow is expected. I cannot wait. Just a little snow can make the world look much brighter.
-
Well Randy, you should be able to get out today!
-
I'm back. Power out when I got home last night (about 8pm). Wind, rain, wind and wind. Peaked about 79mph at the airport. Power came back on about an hour ago, so not too bad. Went out about noon yesterday. All that's left is the clean up now.
Paul, I have no plane to fly right now. But soon.
-
The weather here? It's perfect, for nothing but going downstairs to the workshop and settling into the annual building season. D>K
-
51 degrees today, and 6 mph breeze from the south, away from the sun and it was actually out.
-
It is sunny in the Los Angeles metro area; temps are expected to be in the high 70s and even 80s in the valleys (San Fernando, San Gabriel valleys). In other words, perfect to get more control line flight time this weekend.
I read in the modeling magazines about the flying season coming to an end in many places in this country. Not so where I am-every month is flying season.
A few days ago it was so windy (but sunny) that trees were bending somewhat, but it is now calm.
-
Weather in Tucson much better today. Temps in low 70's and not much wind. Hopefully the same tomorrow because I'm going flying. Likely to be several guys at the field tomorrow...expect Lou Wolgast, Ed Capitinelli, Burt Brokaw, Bob Whitely, and possibly even Keith Trostle.
Much more like Tucson at this time of year!

Cold!
-
Well 27 degrees here with wind gusts around 40 mph. Oh, and did I mention that white stuff is also involved, and quite frankly, I believe that it is here to stay.
-
Rain for three solid days? Reminds me of Bergen, in western Norway. There's a Bergen joke that goes like this:
Visitor: Does it ever stop raining in Bergen?
Local boy: I don't know - I'm only thirteen...

Fred,
I have driven by your Salem flying site everyday for about the last three weeks, and I have not seen you out there. A little rain slows you down?
-
Paul,
Driven by, not stopping to fly, in 3 weeks? I was out yesterday, you could have called and I would not have to have flown alone.
-
Surprisingly beautiful. No wind and supposed to be 70. Flew two days ago, am definately trying to fit a couple in later today.

Drove by again this morning. No one there Fred....
No airplanes with me on this trip. Mom is in hospice care in Salem. We are visiting her every day and staying in an RV campground in north Salem (He He Ilahehe). The flying site is on the route there. Good weather Saturday supposedly. If you are there I could stop.

Well here in KC the sun finally showed it self. My body said it was too cold to any thing out side the shop.
-
Mid 70's here in Tucson today very light wind this morning but strangely blowing into the sun...that's very unusual for our flying field and really plays bad with my cataracts! Surgery in a couple of weeks to fix that. Still enjoyed several flights today. I guess most folks know that this is usually our best flying season! I love Tucson!!!
Not many people at the field today. Me, Gary Gingrich, Burt Brokaw, Larry Mann, and Keith Trostle. There are usually many more on a nice Thursday morning.

Why do you think it's called "The Sunshine State."
-
Here in Houston has been a really nice few days. Was able to put in 20 yesterday #^ #^ #^
-
I was 50 miles offshore in southern California, and it was BEAUTIFUL yesterday.
Tomorrow I head 120nm offshore and its supposed to be the same or better.
I love mild Santa Ana conditions in SoCal!
-
Shame I didn't have a plane to fly today. 40F and clear with just a slight breeze. Sigh...
-
80-85F today in SoCal.
I might go hang out at the contest in the basin if I get motivated.
Regards,
Chris

Light snow yesterday then rain and cold. Now just cold soon to rain.

Chris,
Were/are you fishing for tuna? I went out about 40-50 miles (Several years ago) out of Santa Cruz for albacore. Great fun but a bitch to clean...
Good luck, Jerry
-
No, I only fish when I'm working now, as a distraction.
I run a boat for the USN doing weapons testing on the Pacific Missile Test Range.
I'm spending our tax money, not to worry, I do my part to save when I am allowed!
We are dragging a static target out to be abused by some aircraft from an inland AFB.
But, if there are albacore in the area, we may have to bring a couple to dinner.

Chris
