The Fall Follies
« on: October 02, 2018, 02:55:19 PM »
So, this weekend is the Fall Follies in Salem, Oregon. Unfortunately for me, I won't be attending. A combination of family obligations and not having a plane to fly. Shame that last part. But, I will be there in spirit and plan to make a big comeback next year.

Hope you guys have fun and post pictures.

Well, there goes my plan to judge Expert and take bribes.  I guess I'll have to fly in Expert and lose big.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Mieko and I will be there for the start of our two week trip to include Golden State Stunt Champs.  We will be in Morgan Hill, CA from Oct. 9 til Oct. 18 at Thousand Trails campground and then on to Madera.  Hopefully the fires will be less this year, last year was smoky.

No-Go for me. Entirely due to lack of funding...which is due to property tax increases to fund light rail system...which is not something I'll ever be able to use to go anyplace. If it would make I-405 actually flow, it might be worth it, but it won't.  R%%%%

Ty. Is it true you don't have to pay any property taxes when you reach the young age of 65.

Also, at 65. you no longer need to fear your local draft board.

I think that happens at 36 or earlier.

Ty has been to my house, briefly. Three bedroom, split-level, unfinished basement, 2 car garage. It's very average, certainly not palatial. Our property tax for this year is $5,142. I would LOVE to get out of here, but I'm too old to go through with moving again. Kids are near here, another factor that would make it unlikely.

I would really prefer somewhere just E. of the Idaho border in the Palouse area. I've lived in Alabama, Ty, and I'd prefer Tennessee. I liked Winchester when we lived there...kindergarten through 2nd grade. Visited in 2012 and still liked it.  y1 Steve

As of Friday morning, the forecast is for clouds but no significant likelihood of rain on Saturday and Sunday (20% max).  Of course, anyone who does not carry rain gear to a contest has not been in the Northwest very long.  Looking forward to seeing everyone in Salem.

Mike's Cardinal, after losing an argument with some pavement. He hit bottom very gently on the bottom of the outside square, made the upward turn, and then inevitability happened.

Nice weather today. It's a bit gusty, but given that it rained on the way down I'm not complaining.

It appears that participation is somewhat down this year.  Nothing like some years (when it was warm and sunny).  The prospect of spending all day in the cold and damp kept me away this time.  I used to be able to withstand cold, but no longer.  (2 years in Alaska ruined my metabolism, to say nothing of my disposition).
