Hotels for Baton Rouge!?!?
« on: June 27, 2015, 09:34:21 PM »
Checking hotels for the contest weekend.
Prices are $300.00

Seems like there is a LSU game that weekend.

Not sure we can swing that. 😣

Paul, I'll check it out. I believe LSU is playing a top team that weekend, thus the higher prices. Last year they played an unranked team so lower rates. We recommended that contestants get rooms early in Denham Springs, LA which many did. D. S., LA is less than 10 miles from Baton Rouge. The rates are cheaper there. If this is the case for this year, then we may have to change the date. In the past our contest usually fell on LSU'S away dates. We will probably have to change our dates in the future. I checked the rates 3 months ago and they were not increased. We'll get back with yawl in the next few days for an up-date.

Well Paul I checked LSU'S schedule and they play Florida our weekend. I googled all the hotels in the Baton Rouge - Denham Springs- Zachary areas and there are a lot of still rooms available in the $58.00-160.00 range. Pull up the internet and make your choice. Zachary, LA which is just 12 mi. due Nth of Baton Rouge town center has a nice Holiday Inn Express for 120.00 and a Best Western for $89.00. They are fairly new motels. Best Western Chateau La Rouge I think still has a couple of vacancies as of tonight for $129.00 and it is located about a 1 minute drive from our circles. In addition, it is very nice. Several of the DVIII guys stay there. Zachary motels would be less than a 20 min. drive. Motels in Denham Springs would be about a 10 to 15 min. drive. In Denham Springs the motels and restaurants are all close together on same blvd., plus there is a large BASS PRO SHOP DOWN THE STREET. I believe anyone who is interested in coming to compete should go ahead and make reservations ASAP. One can always cancel later.  Sure would like to see you come on down Paul. We have a fairly nice facility and a whole bunch of Oak trees to sit under.

Thanks Pat.
We were just looking at what was on the flyer.
10 miles is not bad. 😄

Now to find my kitchen pass. 😉

The list on the Stunt Hanger flyer is a partial list - simply too many to list in the Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, and Zachary areas. Those listed are some of the more reasonably priced motels that are a few minutes drive to the circles.
I am glad you posted your concern Paul because it got my attention that  a lot motels raise rates on a demand basis. In years past the LSU home games on our dates were either bye dates, or against small non-competitive teams who had no fan base, just as last years game was. Currently LSU'S 2016 Schedule is not completed- It shows TBA  on our date. I'm sure it will be a home game.
I am trying to steer people to some of the motels in Denham Springs especially. They have great restaurants and easy drive to the circle.
I encourage everyone coming to MAKE RESERVATIONS ASAP.
 THANKS,
           Doug

I drove through Nebraska a few years ago.  There was football game and the rooms were full 100 miles from Lincoln.  They were probably booked when the schedule was released.

Just an idea..... I know its a drive but Lafayette 45 minutes away should have rooms available I would imagine.....Just beware of the traffic by the big bridge depending on gametime.  Just a thought

Lafayette has quite a few motels, but it is almost 50 mi. Port Allen which is across the river from BR has a number of motels on HWY 415. They would be closer than Denham Springs. Cross the MISS. BRIDGE in Baton Rouge exit to left on I-110 keep left to Florida Blvd exit, then head East for approx. 3 mi.? turn right on LOBDELL Ave  go one block past the water park make u-turn go back up Lobell one block then turn rt. on narrow service rd behind water park. YR there. Port Allen motels about a 12 min. drive to flying circles.
Gonzales, LA motels  are off I-10 about  18 mi. south of Baton Rouge. They are almost new, also nice restaurants, a Cabela store, and factory outlets next to motels. It would be less than 30 min. to our circles.
If people will act now on getting reservations they should not have a problem getting rooms in Baton Rouge, D. S., Zachary, Port Allen, and Gonzales. I've spent several hours today checking on what is available for our contest dates. Here they are: Baton Rouge AREA:   America's  Best Value Inn, Reiger Rd.($89-99),  **Best Western Chateau LA.- Lobdell Ave.(117.00),  Crestwood Suites- S. Sherwood Forest/I-12-($55-60),  Days Inn-Gwenadele Dr.-($92),  Days Inn-Baton Rouge Metro. Airport-($73-86),  Callaway Inn & Suites-Mead Rd.-($59),  **Drury Inn and Suites-($129 Orbitz),  Holiday Inn(South)I-12/Hwy 61($167),  LaQuinta-Seigen Ln.($169),  Magnusan-Gwenadele Dr.-($49-54),  Motel 6- Reiger Rd.- ($56-59),  Motel 6- Gwenadele Dr./near I-12-($50- 8+ LEFT),  Ramada Inn- Gwenadele-(120),  Red Roof Inn- Boardwalk Dr.-($72-82),  Sleep Inn- Plaza Americana-($141-149),  Seigen Inn-10707 Honore Ln.-($152),  Super 8 @ (I-12)- 11444 Reulet Dr.-($70),
        Denham Springs Area:  America's Best Value Inn-Rushing Rd. East-($71-75  2 left),  Comfort Suites-Rushing Rd.-($119-124),  Days Inn-($59-70),  LaQuinta-($149),  LaQuinta- Walker, LA. @ I-12- ($149) less than 5 mi. further east FROM D.S. on I-12,  Magnusan Inn-($65-70),
GONZALES AREA:  America's Best Value Inn-Veterans Blvd-($82-92),  Clarion Inn Conference CTR.-HWY30 near I-10-($129),  Comfort Suites-(I-10/Hwy 30)-($130),  Day's Inn-W. Hwy 30-($110),  Hampton Inn- W. Outfitter's Dr.-($127),  LaQuinta Inn-Cabela Pkwy-($149)- most of these are new and very nice- should be for the price.
Port Allen, LA. AREA:   Best Western-Lobdell Hwy-($155),  Holiday Inn Express- ($162),   Magnusan Inn-3051 Hwy 1-($90),  Motel 6-($56-62),  Super 8-($45- 2 left)  Zachary, LA. AREA:  BEST WESTERN ZACHARY INN- Hwy 19-($81),   Holiday Inn Express- Zachary-HWY 19-($120)
What I have listed currently has vacancies on the contest dates and currently the rates are for those contest dates, but I'm sure the rates may go a little higher if both teams become ranked good before they meet. There are about a 120 motels in a 40 mile radius of BR. A total of approx. 41 motels in BR have no vacancies ON OUR CONTEST DATES AS IT STANDS NOW. As I said earlier these are the more pricier motels, but as time go the others are being grabbed up.
Yawl get a room now and if your plans don't work out then cancel- just make sure you get the type reservation you can cancel the day of, or day before without charges as most are. I hope this helps, if I can be of any further assistance let me know. Ph # and email are in our flyer in the events section.
Looking forward to seeing yoose guys!!

One last time for the guys interested in coming to the Baton Rouge contest on OCT. 17-18. There are still a whole lotta motel rooms available in the Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, Gonzales, Port Allen, and Zachary areas. One of the nicer motels is Best Western-Chateau Louisiane about a 1 min. drive to the field. Price on line or direct calling is 143.99/N/ 328.00 INC.Tax for 2 nights. I have reserved this room because it was the last one. I don't need it, but if anyone would like to take it I'll be glad to cancel out. It offers a great breakfast to start your day.
In my research I found that this Best Western went up about $20.00. The pricier motels increased even more. The modestly  priced motels increased a ($5-10). There are still  bunches and bunches of rooms available in the $50-130.00 range. Look at my previous post above for the list. Need help here is my PH  (225) 270-2181
