Horizon Hobby
« on: August 05, 2020, 01:50:24 PM »
I ordered some electric props from Horizon over two weeks ago. I did immediately receive an order confirmation number on line and a charge to my Paypal account. Problem is the tracking number tells me UPS hasn't received the package to track. I can't reach anyone on sales to help me and I have emailed them as well. I was able to get thru to someone handling vendor sales, but he said they are in another dept and is unable to help me.

Has anyone experience had a similar problem?

Steve

USPS has become ridiculously slow. Took over two weeks to get a package from altitude hobbies in Colorado.

I have a very good friend who has worked for the post office for years as a carrier and he says the post office is in one Hell of a mess.

Mike Greb,
I think the point to the original post was a question mark over Horizon Hobby and if it had made the shipment available to USPS.

However, from Brodaks to delivered in Brisbane Australia in 9 days, via USPS. In the current environment. I think is exceptional service!

Not quite sure why this post had to become political.

Things will only get worse as Amazon takes over the delivery business and grinds down USPS, Fedex, UPS, and Railway Express even more.

The goal is to make Amazon the only source for everything.

I think a lot depends on where the shipment started to where the final destination is.  USPS, one month from Monee IL. to Shawnee KS. D>K

My experience lately is that vendors are the ones causing the delay. If it doesn't show departing point of origin or it shows "tracking document generated" it means they haven't given it to USPS yet. I have sent two packages in the last 10 days one plain snail mail and the other priority they both got to their cross several state destinations in 3 days from me handing it to the post office.

For the most part, Reptoid has it right here. As a franchise multi-dealership parts manager I deal with this stuff everyday. The only real USPS issues (delays) I've been seeing stem directly from the shipper. This goes for UPS and all the rest. And in defense of the shippers, supply issues have been a problem for a lot of them causing delays because of (their suppliers) company cutbacks stemming directly from the COVID crap our "leaders" are shoving down our throats. My job has become a literal fight everyday simply trying to satisfy customer orders because of all this. Before any of it has a chance of getting better our countrys leaders, at all levels, have to get their s--t together and allow business to make moves toward returning to the old normal. Til then it is what it is and we're all being forced to swallow it.

What Wayne said, at least 95%.   :)

I've had USPS take the long way cross-country, but at least they usually get there.  I ordered landing gear from Hobby King and believe they arrived - from China = in about 5 business days or less.  Somebody's doing a pretty good job!

Re Amazon: I believe putting the Postal Service out of business is the very last thing they want to do.  Many of us could become Amazon Sellers - they ship products from about a zillion points and get it, in many cases, to the Postal Service for residential delivery.  And UPS charges more for delivery to residential addresses than to commercial addresses.

It makes sense: we order one of these and two of that, while a business might order by the case or gross.  Letting the Postal Service make the final delivery is very cost-effective.  If you receive prescriptions by mail, there's a very good chance that's exactly what's happening.

Considering the state our Post Office is in, I wasn't too displeased by a three-week wait for a couple of paperback books to arrive from Norway.  It's four or five days in normal times.

I'm leaning toward Horizon to be the problem here fulfilling the order and not the shipper. Horizon showed the APC 11 x 5.5 x2E prop available while everyone else I previously tried showed it on back order. Because this prop is on back order elsewhere leads me to believe Horizon was out of stock as well but did not list it as such on their online ordering system. It's frustrating when a company takes your money and next leaves you hanging on the ship status. I could request Paypal to cancel the order for failure on Horizon's part to respond but for an order less than $15.00 I guess I'll leave it out there, for now anyway. Who knows it could be the availability with APC and someday when Horizon restaffs it's workforce I will see the props arrive. Christmas is only 4 months away, I'm a patient man.

If anyone can advise where a APC 11 x 5.5 electric prop is available I'd appreciate it, flying season will be drawing to a close in the NE very soon.

APC also makes a line of f2b props  I have several of the 12 x 6 EP props and they work well.

There has been talk about them in the past on the Gettin all AMP'ed up board.

It is no surprise that USPS is slow.  Their budget  is getting slashed by the Trump people.  Their goal is to hurt Amazon by stabbing the USPS in the back.  However, it is quite true that Amazon, and many other customers, get shipping rates below cost.  The difference is supposed to be offset by First Class rates.  But First Class mailings have not been strong enough to save the budget.

How would it make any sense for the government or postal service to try to hurt Amazon?

For anyone that actually pays attention Amazon is not taking over shipping . They are now out sourcing the delivery of they products to other vendors like USPS, UPS, Fed Ex or at least  outsourcing more of it. I buy online constantly & to my house USPS is far and away the best service. But of course we have paved roads in Seattle.

Those big amazon trailers on the highway. I don’t know who owns them. I see tractors of several carriers pulling them. Because of the ones we’ve unloaded at work, I don’t think they only carry amazon freight. May be to some extent advertisement.

I buy a lot of stuff online (except from Amazon) and USPS is what I prefer instead of the other box smashers.
As far as USPS tracking.....the email invoice you receive should have the tracking number, then go to the tracking site and set up email tracking notifications so you can determine exactly where the box is.
Never had a problem with USPS unlike the rest of em'.

Most of my shipping problems have been from ebay sellers. The most recent one gave me a bogus tracking number for the USPS. I've had other USPS tracking numbers not show any activity until the pkgs arrived. This has happened a few times this yr and always when a "partner carrier" was used.

The USPS being slow is from the massive increase in online ordering since the virus started. That's what my mailman says and they are working overtime in my area. It has nothing to do with Amazon or whatever the conspiracy of the day is.

Trump this, Trump that... blah, blah, blah.

Just like the Dem motto: "Never let a good crisis pass*", their other pet motto is "Never let an opportunity to dis Trump pass".

Never mind any facts or clear thinking. It's gotta' be Trump's fault somehow. If not, twist any perceived issue and try to make it fit the "HT" narrative somehow.

EDIT: "Never let a good crisis go to WASTE" (Not pass.)
