The August 2012 Model Aviation has arrived.
I would like to publically thank Jay Smith, Liz Helms and the entire MA crew for the outstanding layout of the Hobo article.
With digital technology, the cover is unique and nothing short of spectacular.

Hey Tom is the Plane kitted if not who did your lazer cutting?
-
Brad,
The Hobo will be a Blue Sky Models kit. There is a waiting period, after publication. I did all the Cad work and I have someone who does the laser work for me. There have been several protoypes built, all laser cut.

CONGRATS Tom! Just got my MA and looks like they did a nice job on the article and its presentation. There was a thread here on a One-Design class - I'd say the Hobo would fill that role very nicely!
Now, perhaps we can all chip in and buy you some French Curves??? :o VD~ ;D LL~ 010!

Nice job, Tom! (Ignore Dennis, he can't help it.) LL~

Tom Niebhur has nailed an important transition niche.

Hi Tom,
It is great to hear of the publication of the HoBo. ;D I know you are aware of the needs of CLPA pilots and this is a great transition model.

Looks like a great model - With the straight lines I would expect easy and fast to build - Nice open area around the engine is a plus too. I'm looking forward to seeng the kit........great job !!!!

Thanks guys.
I have finished the drawing for the kit, and have worked up the preliminary pricing for ribs, short kit and full kit. It won't be long.
Also working on an electric version and possibly an RC version.

You might want to consider a .60 version.

I was waiting for this news!!----LOUIE

Nice to see a full article on a c/l stunt construction project! Nice to see it on the cover of the mag! Can't recall the last time I saw a stunt ship on the cover of Model Aviation. We need to let MA know that we still exist; an e-mail to the editor regarding the Hobo article wouldn't take but a few minutes. If you have a design you're thinking of publishing, give it a shot! Thanks, Tom, good job!
