I was looking through another forum and this caught my attention. Supposedly Horizon Hobbies made the only bid at auction for Hobbico and bought the business for $18M.
Have not heard anything official but I wonder what they will do with it. one thing is that it may stabilize the parts situation for their products especially OS engines.
If true then it will be interesting to see what develops. It would be interesting to see what Horizon Hobbies would do with their 18M investment. Remember this is an unconfirmed report till proven otherwise.

I read that Horizon bought the RC side...and that the Hobbico employees will have to re-apply for their jobs on line...

The model railroad and Revelle are still unsold.....I wager Revelle was hurt when sales of NASCAR licensed die cast was awarded exclusively.....

From what I have read, Horizon only bought some of the products.  Among the things not going to Horizon are OS engines and Futaba radios.  As I understand it, Hobbico only had importation rights, no ownership of those companies.  It remains to be seen if there will be a US importer for OS engines.

I'm not sure this is accurate. I think Horizon's roots can be traced back to Circus Hobbies. In the early nineties, Horizon either merged with, or absorbed, Hobby Dynamics. I don't know of any connection between Horizon and Hobbico. I could be wrong, but I base this on 23 years managing a large retail hobby shop.

I rarely had a good Local Hobby shop but have been in many...but as a soldier overseas a lot....we really did a lot of mail order business for much more than hobbies
