Does anyone have pictures of Will Hinton's F9F stunter that was published in Flying Models 8-90?

I have a bunch of the black and whites I used for FM back then, I think I can find them rather quickly since I just did some cleaning up in the shop.

Put some pics of it up on here. I remember the model, and won't have to dig out the mag to check it out again! I think others would like to see it also that may not know what is being described.

oops, the best pictures are already sealed in an envelope addressed to tom! I'll scan a couple of others in tomorrow and post them here. Thanks for any interest in my ship. The mag was the August FM in 1990. (The ship was destroyed when a handle let go one week before the nats!!) 'Bout broke my heart to not get to fly in the first nats I was able to attend!!

Thanks! I will scan the pictures and return them to you. I will also post some here for you.

There is a Warbird Stunt event in Baton Rouge that looks interesting. It is for profiles or full bodied airplanes. From what I understand, no size restriction on engine/motor. No appearance points. But I might be wrong. The key thing is that it must be a model of a Warbird.

This is meant to be a fun stunt event with some realism added. There are many great airplanes already available and I know of several Hutchinson profiles that are already available. Wait until people see Dave Ek's new profile T-34, designed by Hutch!

This event could spread very fast!

Thanks Tom! I also love the T-34 and the AT-6, have considered semi-scale stunters of them for a really long time. I think that could be a great event, the main difficulty for me would be choosing which of so many "favorites" to build!

It just dawned on me that i saved a few pictures of the larger F9F I gave to Jeff Traxler. (He's converting it to electric.)
Here they are. 750 squares, 72 ounces. Formerly a PA 75 on pipe.

Wow Wayne, that wasn't mine, but I LOVE it - what a nice looking Panther! That surpasses mine for workmanship as far as I'm concerned. (Fatter fuse, higher horizontal stab, etc.) I wish we could find out more about it! (Who, where, etc.)

I'm with you, John, this is my all-time favorite aircraft. When ya comin' back to Buckeye land?

I was sanding on the Pawnee when a thought hit me, if anyone wants to see some great footage of the F9F in action, get hold of the movie "The Bridges Of Toko-ri", it is fantastic for that footage, and is even a good movie ion other ways. I think I'll dig out my VCR tape and play it while in the shop today!

That F9F was done by Jan Rummery who usually attends the Sig contest every year. Jan doesn't compete but seems to always bring some sort of really cool obscure stuff to show off. Always very nicely built and finished, but I'm not sure they get flown. Jan is quite the C/L historian does very nice hand drawn plans and info for lots of older designs.

NO, it's NOT electric Charles. If you would look BEFORE you start blabbing you would notice the cylinder head and glow plug under the nose. It's sticking out plain as day in the profile photo.

Wayne, would you tell Jan for me that I think his is the best looking F9F semi-scale I've ever seen? The workmanship AND the design faithfulness is just simply great. I love it!
It would be wonderful to know if he ever flew it and how it performed. (And if he still has it.)

Jan's F9F is beautiful. Thanks for posting the pictures.

While the high tail looks excessive, in particular with the relatively short moments, it might fool you. I had a "Carousel" with the horizontal surface 3" higher than the wing, and flew fine.

Yeah Tom, I was afraid to mount the tail that high for the obvious thinking toward stunters. Not that I know you've done it with no problems, maybe I need to revisit the Panther and make one like Jan's. Man, that thing is outstanding!

I would tend to cheat the tail height as you did. The high tail presents problems getting the controls hooked up and getting smooth action. There are some possible flexible pushrod setups but they will not take excessive bends.
