Title: High of 59 and 5-10 mph winds- Going Flying!
Post by: Bill Heher on December 05, 2010, 08:28:33 AM
Can't pass up this day- might be the last flyable days this year while i'm here in Albuquerque.  Anybody else up for it- I'll see ya at Maloof park.

In Great Falls this morning it was zero degrees, about 12 inches of snow on the ground and a very light breeze. Very sunny but not flying weather. Should hit 28 as a high later today.

I head back home to CA (and my airplanes) tomorrow.

I'm going to put the ski on my last remaining Flite Streak.  It's already mid 30's and there is some sun on the snow.

I'm jealous.  Got out of the club meeting, and 27 degrees and 18 mph winds.  And snow falling.  Ugh.

Randy Powell, Pete Peterson and myself got out to "The Mattress Factory" at noon today. Each of us got in 3 flights on our planes.

One of mine was with Pete flying the SV-11 for a critique. He didn't like it all that much, so I will have to do some adjusting. I started off by narrowing the handle spacing one hole (each side) on the Ted Handle. Maybe will narrow it again next time out. Need to improve the run time a little, also...no time to allow taching or adjusting the NV. Lower nitro content would seem logical, but just getting useful fuel is tough enough around here. I might add some unleaded regular, in addition to the Aero-1. Actually, leaving out the Aero-1 should help fuel economy, I think.

Pete got his Jamison flying really well...but needs to sort the engine launch rpm a little...maybe more nitro.

Randy flew his Ringmaster Deluxe, and is still searching for the right prop and launch rpm. But it's looking good.

It was sweatshirt weather, mostly. Wake turbulence was a bit of a problem, as usual. A light rain started falling at about 1:45pm, and we scooted for home. It was 47 degrees as I left the field. Not too bad, considering the weather on Thanksgiving week.  D>K Steve

The weather is about the same here in DFW. Have you run the ST 56 with the new muffler? Tom

Steve,

Sure felt colder. It sprinkled on my last two flights, but was starting to pick up to something that could be called real rain by the time we left. More prop work for me.
