Hey Wes! Look here (again)

Wes:

Thanks again for the templates to the Super Ringmaster.  You were probabaly wondering if I'd ever get it done.  Well, it isn't quite yet, but almost.  You like the open cockpit?  Looks like i'll be doing some saber-dancing this coming flying season!!

(I probably would have had it done by now except for my hiatus for a short song-writing career.    ;D )

Beautiful Scott. But why the rudder offset?

Cheers, Jerry

Saber dancing!  I may not need the rudder offset, but just in case...better safe than sorry and all that stuff!

Hey Wes - glad you like it!  Not exactly an Impact, but lots of fun to saber-dance.

Pilot is the same as in my crashed one.  He survived!

Scott is one of the few fliers that I have the pleasure and honor to know that can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.  Bravo.

Now finish that 1940 Ford Coupe that you have in your garage.

Of course I am Carl!!  No other engine runs correctly to do saber-dancing.  You need a big 4-2 break to fly saber dancing.  A nice slow 4 in level flight and then a 2 in vertical to hang on the prop.  That speed difference is critical.  Run too fast in level flight and you are halfway into a wingover before it slows enough to hang on the prop.  Instead it falls into your lap.  We don't want that do we?   :P

(And I know you are pulling my chain!  But be carefull, you talk smack about the Fox 35 on StuntHanger and pretty soon the pitchforks and torches come out!)

Hi Scott, Several to Many years ago Willis Swindell built a 120% Super Ringmaster and powered it by a really sweet running  LA .46. After Willis died John Tate assumed ownership of that plane which flew really well! He sold it a few years ago to me up at the Jim Coll Contest and it has been a regular attendee at the annual Ringmaster Fly-A-Thon! This year was no exception. Several weeks ago I took it along out to the field to fly and gave Steve Fitten a chance on the handle! He remarked that this is /has been the best darned flying Ringmaster ever! I flew it at the NVCL Stunt Fest a few years ago in PA. It flew well but didn't score too well, likely my fault! It looks a bit beat but flies quite well still!

It is lots of fun to fly!  It is a shame that it can't be flown in Old-Time because it is almost a caracature of what you'd expect an Old-Timer to look like.

You know, they are easy enough to rebuild that you should just strip it down and repair and recover it.  I have found that using the solvent-based paint stripper works better than the water-clean-up stuff.
