WOW! PHIL!!
That old spider sketch...brings back memories!!! H^^ LL~ LL~...

HEY GANG! DON'T TAKE THAT NAME LIGHTLY!!!
That fuzzy big spider name for a stunt ship...especially when it is flown in competition by our talented brotha Granderson....
will leave the competition....feeling that they have been bitten, paralized, bound, and gobbled up in the web of defeat.

A bit of MY SPIDER history:
As a kindergarden kiddy, My family moved to Meade Kansas, a small town in SW Kansas....which so happened to be located right in the pathway of those huge fuzzy migrating Tyrantula's spiders that would often use the local blacktop streets, driveways and roads.

They would continue their migration during the day and also AT NIGHT..(because latent heat from the previous days hot sun) would then keep them warm enought to allow these aracknoidal's to travel in HUGE PACKS that would appear  as one HUGE MASS OF SPIDERS.

Naturally as they passed through... in the heat of the night...they also  would feed and  gobble up any sleeping prey that happend to be so unfortunate to be in their pre-bugged roadmapped path. HOW SCARY IS THAT??? ~^
Humm?
Can  you imagine the nighmares of young children in those days? LL~ ~^ ~^

However, all us kiddies  actually adapted quite well..
My sister and I kept a couple of these big fuzzy Spiders in a cage and even took them to school as a class project....
(which didn't go over so well) Our 2nd grade teacher who was mortally afraid of Tyrantula's after finding her bedroom floor filled with these migrating spiders when she was a child.

My grandfather actually lost control of his old pickup truck one night when he hit the brakes and skidded off the road from the ooooze' of slim from all those masses of  crushed Tyrantula bodiy parts from under the wheels of his truck. :X :X

Enough Spider drivel...but I have always visioned what a beautiful stunt model paint scheme that Tyrantula would make...Hummm?
Maybe a black or dark brown basic model...with web like patterns...with red-orange demon like spiders crawling all over the stunt model's wing, and elevators..etc?
 WOW!!! PTG!
What a dream theme for a stunt model theme.

(  attached a photo of an old shirt of mine...that I almost thought might make for an interesting stunt model theme...(actually most folks think LADY BUGS ARE WUZZIES..but to those poor little helpless avids, the Lady bugs sure uh shootin, must truly rule their little greenie weenie night mares...
Last couple of attached photos Phils beautiful little Diplomat stunter that was an awesome flying model (also from those early daze-days) and the lastest beauty contest winning work of artisty.

Last trip to Lost Hills, CA, for the World FF Champs in 2001, there was a  of Tyrantulas. Not sure if that's close to Phil's house or not... VD~ S?P LL~  Anyway, the Euro's were very impressed. The Ozzies (my mites!) weren't phased at all, at least once they found out the sting is seldom a serious problem. Maybe Phil would prefer to call his next stunter "The Trapdoor Spider". Very serious sting, that one. Sydney is the "epi-center" of the home range for them. But like their cousins, they're probably pretty shy around big shoes.  y1 Steve

Wasn't that the name of one of your early combat planes?  I have heard of people making pets of the critters, but, not me.  I don't care how furry they are, they are not pet-able.  I remember the guy/gal telling Johnny Carson not to jump or flinch as they would bite.  Keep em to yourself,  DOC Holliday
