Hey Shultzie! Remember this one?
« on: November 16, 2009, 02:45:17 PM »
You will have to forgive me friend for being ignorant but since I have read your posts and enjoyed your artwork, I have wondered where I had seen your work before. Try as I might I just have not find any of your work from time past... Till today! Still there must be more I just don't know about...

I am very fond of your work and ability and enjoy each example that you post and spend quality time looking at all the details you put into each one. I really enjoy the minute details! Your work makes me smile every time.

Do you remember this one?

Robert

Wow Robert! LL
Do I remember that toon?.. Yes and No...kindava' remember that it was some kind of sketch for some kind of model magazine article heading!

The YES part...in "DO I REMEMBER THIS ONE?" Is the razzzzin-n'-jazzzin' I received from my beloved JIVE combat team brothers after they saw that loonie-toon if I proclaimed that any of those "strange-weirdly wacky lookin' combat folks in the drawing were suppose to be them...
they would send  OL" DIRTY DAN DOWN TO AUBURN WITH A CONTRACT TO DROWN ME IN MY OWN BRAND NEW SWIMMING POOL!

My toon's characters have often been rated waaaaaaay below anything socialeee' acceptable...as you can see. That is ME ...UNDER THE GOLF CART and yes...swimming with a few of my brotha' n' sista's in brass and balsa shavings.

That combat cartoon reminds me more of the early days of Rat Racing in which they tried to fly six entries at a time.  Mr. Meriwether demonstrated several times why he carried a pair of side cutters in his pocket.

Undoubtedly, this is what draws me so much to your material. I was a huge fan of Mad magazine in the 1960s and '70s. Mad was widely known for its irreverence.

Keep up the good work!

As you can see I  am still n' avid fan of MAD LL~
I also love FAT AIRPLANES*...(this detail is part of a drawing that shows the "late" Carl Walters.  He was an avid  vintage auto rebuilder and lead windtunnel modelmaker.
Last photo is also another great model design Engineer and model flyer...the late Bob Rantz.
Gads...sobering to see so many of us old model-koots kickin' off!!! ~>
