HAHAHAHAH gotcha, that's what I thought too but he's putting on clear or maybe Hot Fuel Proofer!!!!

I just looked real close, he's using Comet clear, but on the bench there are also Testor's dopes and the cement is also Testors. I'm guessing they had to include their advertizers.

But the girl, nah, she just can't take her eyes of that handsome model airplane builder. Come on, the truth now, weren't you attracted to model airplanes for the money and women????

Looks like a Berkeley kit Pitts Special, Betty Skelton's Little Stinker.  Those were definitely slower times, sometimes I wish we were back then. ;D

I did it different. Almost 60 years ago I took this fantastic girl for a ride on my 1942 Harley "45". She swooned and we were married a few years later. Then she found out I was a modeler. She still loves me after 56 years of marriage. She still lets me dope my planes in the basement and let me have a back bedroom to build in. To say I love this woman would be an understatement. They just don't make them like they use to.

I think the caption should read:
"Betty Skelton was a cool chick, and cool chicks dig Pitts Specials!"
    Type at you later,

Yeah riiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!  If that had been my kid sister, the little bubble of thought that would be over her head would read "Ohhhhhhhhh!  You did such a nice job!  I just can wait to tell momma and daddy how you stunk up the house, spilled that stuff on the floor and hid the trash under the rug.  You'll be flyin' faster than that silly airplane of yours ..... dear brother"!!    LL~

Yup! Remember five cent tubes of Comet cement without labels, fuel proofer, Aero Gloss not agreeing with other brands of dope, using empty glue tubes for wingtip weight, glue and dope all over fingers and pants and anything else that got nearby as well as stinking up the house and dead booster batteries! But who remembers "Bunny"? Fixit It Wrights girlfriend?

Betty Skelton flew the devil out of that Pitts and also became a Vice President at Chrysler (in Styling I believe) back in the Day!

I remember Bunny and always wished the neighbor girl looked like that then.   Then she did grow up and wouldn't even talk to me because I shunned when we were kids.

Everybody remembers Bunny!  :o

...and you left out using old Ambroid (or other screw-in) tube screws as pushrod guides on profiles.  H^^

Mr. Kraft,
I too rode a '42 Harley "45" just after I graduated from HS. Many a gal swooned but I usually rode off into the sunset before things got too serious.

I too now have a wife who shares my hobby... both model planes and vintage motorcycles. She falls in love with me all over again every time I come home from the field after flying diesel-powered free flights!

I am betting the girl in the picture was his little sister, as guessed here by someone else.

No doubt, but honestly, this ISN'T the best rendition of our lovely cartoon diva from our youth.

Yeah, kind of a let down.  But how about Charlene, the PCS poster girl, and you could actually talk to her at the Toledo RC show,  Those were the days

I have one of the items shown in the cover photo... no no, not the lady or the plane... the PCS radio!
