Hey Dallas Guys, Sam Rayburn tollway?
« on: September 21, 2013, 08:55:44 AM »
I have to make a trip to Dallas next week to work on a Coaster that will be operating during the fair. Hope to get headed back before before the fair starts on Friday but would like to stop by Mikes on my way in on Tuesday. I will be coming down 75 and it looks like the Sam Rayburn tollway would be a good way to get from 75 over to 35. Been several years since I've been to Dallas and don't remember this highway being there, is it new or have I just missed it? Also does it have booths with attendants or will I need to have proper change?

Thanks
Bob

It used to be called 121. The toll collection is all automatic. It takes a picture of your license plate then you get a bill in the mail. You barely have to slow down.

You mean the toll way booths are working?   When I left the shop last February we took it from I-35E to 75 north.

Thanks Bill, Kinda scary, too close to the red light camera and camera speed traps in some states. You sure I won't be surprised with a $200.00 ticket instead of a couple buck toll bill  :o

Shouldn't be a problem.  I drove it 2 or 3 times with the dealer plates on my new truck - never heard from them (I have a toll tag sticker now).  If it is too much trouble to track you down they seem to just let it drop.

Doc, it has been active for 3 or 4 years now.  I guess it costs more to get out-of-state info than the $2 or $3 they would get for the toll.

I reality I like the Okie toll road that you pay to get on.

Take the PGBT, President George Bush Turnpike from 75 over to 35 to get to
Mike's. The PGBT meets 35 just one exit North of the exit to get to Mike's. Much
more convenient then the Rayburn.

Thanks Steve, I looked at that but looks to me like he Rayburn would save a few miles from the direction I will be coming from.
