Title: Here We Go Again
Post by: Garf on July 09, 2013, 09:27:01 PM
We have another storm, a Tropical Storm named Chantel. It is "predicted" to be a tropical storm when it passes east of Miami. Will it do as it is predicted? Who knows. We will know more once it passes over Hispaniola.

I sometimes wonder which is worse,  you folks in the southeast and east with your hurricanes, or us here in tornado alley with the severe storms almost daily.   Especially when we have whole towns wiped off the map, like Picher, OK.  At least Greensburg KS has rebuilt their little town.

We get a little bit of rain, once in awhile. Not a real big deal, since our roofs stay where we put 'em. And we have everything from desert to semi-arid to rain forest. Take your pick!  y1 Steve

The storm seems to have broken up on contact with the mountains of Hispanola. All that is left is a huge patch of really bad weather. What becomes of that is anyone's guess.

I spent 3 months in south Florida on a project for the US govt.  Hurricane Andrew came along and destroyed everything, including the building!  The project was scrapped.

How about here in the SE where we get the wind and rain from hurricanes and tornadoes?

Hi Ty,

I agree!

Having lived, for the most part, in the "Sandhills" of NC for 50 years I have had my fill of Hurricanes, Tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, and severe ice storms in the winter.  We have been under warnings/watches for the bad T-storms for several days and are currently under a flash flood warning until Friday morning.  It has been thundering here at the house since about 12 noon today..........

Of course the 100*+ temps with excessive humidity half the year is ok, I guess..........
