Both of my Grandfathers were 32nd degree Masons in Cleveland. I have a wonderful Hamilton pocket watch with chain and symbol. Are there any Masons here that can clue me as to the value? Is an old watch of value as part of the rite ?
I am curious.....thanks

Maybe someone could, but then they may have to kill you! n1

Nope, none what so ever......

Rich- You came to the right spot but I need more information to give you a $ guess. What is the serial number on movement? Gold or silver case? Masonic markings on dial or fob? Also is it 18 or 16 size? Measure the movement across the inside of the back of the case.
18 size ~1&11/16, 16 size ~ 1&5/8 inches. Also what kind of condition, avg, ex fine or mint?
I have the Shugart,Engle,Gilbert book, Complete price guide to Watches. Has all the old pocket watches listed and Hamiltons run anywhere from $125 to $7000 for rare ones. A 1999 edition but will give you some idea. Also will give you the age of the watch

Thanks a bunch.... I'll get you the information.

Missed one important detail. How many jewels? It will say on the movement when you open the back of the case. Beautiful piece of work aren't they! No wonder people collect them. Makes an Orwick engine look rather crude!

An old watch can have value for sure
But not as any part of the Masonic Rite...Regards, Phil

Phil....
I just thought that a Mason might seek an older piece.....

I do not know about the value of watches, but I am a 32'nd degree mason in North Carolina. Watches are not a part of any masonic rite of which I am familiar.
