Well the one thing I did with both these engines was put a new NVA in them before I put the away for the season.

I had to open the needle on both. Both engines run with either tank.

Boy to I feel like a bone head. :-[

It is just starting and it is called a senior moment or Brain fart. But I think we all have done some stupid things so you have now entered a differnt segment of your life. Don't worry about it because it is not the end of this phanomanon. HB~> HB~> HB~> HB~> HB~> HB~>

I remember me and a friend taking turns trying to start a Cox .049 back in the early days when we were just starting out. After about 20 minutes someone asked "Did you put fuel in it?" " No. I thought you put fuel in it!" We got it going pretty quick after that. I'm surprised we didn't kill the battery.

I am world famous for taking the needle out of the valve body and carefully counting exactly the
 number of turns required.
Then when reinstalling the needle I turn it in one turn too far!
 I don,t know how I do it , just a gift, I guess  Z@@ZZZ

We have a club member that took the starting instructions waaaaayyyy too literally. He'd close the NV after every flight and then open it 3-4 turns before starting for the next flight...every flight.  n~ Not a big surprise that he seldom got it set right, is it? I won't say who it was, but no, it wasn't me!  I think we finally got him to quit that nonsense.  mw~ Steve

Paul,

To offer you some sincere support - try this: Whenever you take the needle valve out of the spraybar and replace it, stick some clean fuel tubing on the spraybar and try to draw air through it. You will, at least, be rich enough when the restriction allows you to draw air, not freely, but without popping your eardrums.

After you run the engine and dial in a nice setting, try it again, to get an idea of how much restriction you should feel next time. (At least, this extra step forces you to get the needle open about enough...)

I had my buds spend a full 5 minutes trying to start a Fox 35 in a combat match.  It had a loose backplate and didn't even pop.

That sounds like my brother in 70 when the AMA in their wisdom of the time decided after processing that entrant could not start his/her own engine.  After getting home found out plug was shorted.  Have not flown NATS combat since.  DOC Holliday
