I have used Graphiconvertor for about 20 years now:

https://www.lemkesoft.de/en/products/graphicconverter/

It costs $40, but well worth it, this is the best simple image editor available, and much better than any pile of crap thing they have for Windows. IT resides on your machine, you own it, you are not subject to the internet.

There are other, free, alternatives, but they are almost universally dreadful.

The only computer I've ever owned is a MacBook Pro and as Brett stated, all the photo editing tools reside in the 'Pro. The photos
I load onto the forum are sized and altered with the internal program. Not sure what the GraphicConverter program is, but I looked it up and it seems all the functions it provides are already built into your MacBook Pro.

The easiest way to sort out the Mac photoshop app is to take yourself and your computer to the Apple store and ask them to show you how it works.
