HELP Identifying Engine

Going through Dad's stuff, came across an engine I cannot identify.  Beautiful casting, ABC, has an "11" stamped on the lug - perhaps 11cc?

Denny that looks like a Skif. (Ukraine?).  It’s said to be a descent stunt engine and similar to the Discovery Retro .76.  That forward slanted plug would be scary with your Hot Shot battery.

If it is a Schnurlie (probably so) with a flat top piston, why not turn the cylinder head around? Put the glo plug in the back.

I think it's loop scavenged like a giant Fox .35.  The rear exhaust is for a muffler-not a pipe,  I believe, like the retros.  This is the European trend it seems where there isn't nitro around.  It should be able to turn very large props if that's your desire.  The ones I've seen mounted in airplanes were side mounted like a retro-ala the Shark.

   Nobody's ever going to be collecting obsolete electric motors.


     The needle valve looks a lot like the ones I see on Rustler/Merco engines, so I would guess that this might be the work of Sergei Belko.

Can you please remove the head and show some details of scavenging? If it has PDP-porting, the strongest candidate as maker of this engine is Vladimir Kalennikov. He flew in Soviet team in 80's.

L.O.L.!!  Hello my friend!  I want to take you up on that but the last time I took the Visa card out of the wife purse, it was to pay the doctor for the 6 weeks of in-patient traction when the wife found out how much I spent getting the Legacy built and flying!    At least I still have it .... she said "Yes, Keep it ...... as a Reminder  "!!

I was wrong. Actually, Yuriy Yatsenko was wrong as V. Kalennikov was his guess and he is most often correct.
Correct answer is Vladimir Strakhov from Samara, Russia. Your engine is an earlier version of "Skif 9,5", from year 91-93.

With the forward-slanted glo plug, it would be wise to install a remote glo connector.  I think I used one made by Sullivan.

That's right. This is a Skif 9.5 cc motor. Russian pilot of the USSR and Russia national team member Vladimir Strakhov.

Another curiosity of Skif is quite high prop pitch. I think Albert uses pitch around 8". Seems to work.
And Skif silencer is the best I've seen. L
