Title: Help Id'ing Airplane
Post by: Peter_Gregory on November 27, 2016, 07:01:33 AM
If anyone has an idea which kit this plane might be from, much appreciated.
This is a CL plane I accidentally won on eBay.
I initially thought it was a Sterling P-51 but mine doesn't look like it has flaps (it is en route to me).
Maybe it was just built without functioning flaps.

Thanks - Poughkeepsie Pete

Yes on the Sterling Mustang. Can be built either way, with or without flaps. It is OTS legal, and like the Ringmaster, if properly built and balanced, is capable of being very competitive in OTS. I believe Bob Whitely won OTS at VSC  one year with one. People have used them as a base model for profile carrier model also.
  Type at you later,

+1 Sterling P51.  Looks like it was previously enjoyed.

Well, the fact that you accidently won it looks to go along with its previous owner accidently flying it.  Is this one of those "bidding a dollar as a joke" and then finding out you won?

I've gotten a couple of "attic find" Super Ringmasters that needed major work to fix them before they could fly again.  Do-able, but just takes time.  Good luck on your rebuild!

Great help, thanks to all. I will be happy if nothing is warped. I'll bring it back into the flyable league, again. Interesting on the engine - the needle valve points down, and the exhaust up! I will have to fashion a pipe for this as our club requires mufflers. Barring horrible alignment/warping I'll get it flying again.

Here's the outerzone plans - always so helpful...
