HELP, I'm looking for a site to print song lyrics
« on: July 10, 2009, 07:21:33 AM »
Guys and gals,

As those who know me personally are well aware, I'm not very computer literate. I'm looking for the words to some old country songs and have spent all morning trying to find a site that will let me print the words without joining some darn club or having to get on their email list.   HELP please  HB~>

Thanks,  John

Go to Google and type in the song in question.  I do that all the time and usually wind up getting tracks to use at Church when they let me sing.  DOC Holliday

If your looking for the lyrics for aparticular song, go to
http://www.google.com/

Type in the artist name, song title, and then the word "lyrics"
hit enter,
then just look at the link suggestions it will provide and I have never failed to find the lyrics for a song
Some artists actually have their own website with some of the lyrics listed
If you arent having any luck, email me the artist and songs, I can likely help
For years the rat race had me going around in circles, Now I do it for fun!

For old country songs this site is great.
http://www.cowboylyrics.com/index.html

often the lyrics will be under the Tab settings. To print just highlight the song and then copy and paste to a Word document.

Happy Trails,
John

Charlie, thanks for the heads-up about U Tube...

Found some old Elton Britt stuff. Haven't found the Skater's Yodel yet, but I'll get there. Had to stop and listen to his "There's a Star Spangled Banner Somewhere".

Next stop... Bobby Helms's "Frauline"  ;D

Hey guys,

I REALLY appreciate all the help. I found and printed all the lyrics I wanted except for one.  I don't know the title or the artist but I just love to play bass on this.  "You're in love with the wrong man, holding the wrong hand." are some of the lyrics.

Walkin' bass, Ray Price band style.  I would sure like to find this one.

Thanks again,   John

Skater's Yodel? I wrote 'Short Track Shuffle' , but that doesn't qualify, I guess? ;D
Here's something useful, another lyrics site: http://bluegrasslyrics.com
'If you think there's something about my English, you're right. I'm Dutch... '
But I DO play Stunt and I DO fly Bluegrass.

John, I always go to chordie.com.  If you play a stringed instrument you get chords or tabs with the lyrics.

Elton Britt was quite a yodeler, sorta like Jimmy Rogers but better. The Skater's Yodel is the Skater's Waltz, but yodeled. I think Elton Britt played with Jimmy Rogers and other artists, as well as his own stuff.

I don't think they played together but Elton did try to copy Jimmie's style. Elton Britt did several recordings with Rosalie Allen. Many of his songs were done in the World War II era and the vocals related to the war or people affected by it. His big hit
"There's A Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere" was one of them.

For my money, Elton Britt was overlooked. A great singer.
As for "cowboy movies singers" In my mind Eddie Dean was the best!hands down!
