Title: Hel[p me pick a good color for the lettering on a new model
Post by: frank carlisle on June 07, 2009, 08:45:54 AM
Here is a picture of last years' Golden Hawk with the lettering on the wing. The other picture is the new plane (without lettering on wing). What would be a good color choice for the lettering on the new one? Brodak color chart please.

Silver, the B-25 Silver that Windy used; the really, really shiny one . . .

Hey Frank, Just use the same color yellow you have there and you won't have to worry about it at all!

 Frank,

Just use the same blue as is already on the plane and then outline it with the white (or whatever it is) just like on the rest of the plane. On the older style planes I always feel they should look period correct, simpler is better... y1

Hey Wayne!--I'm going to do the lettering as you suggest. I'll have to get a couple extra stencils and be careful when I work.
The other guys made good color choices too. But blue letters with white trim rang my bell. Thankyou.
I'll put up a picture in a day or two.

Wayne,
Here are a couple pictures of the Golden Hawk. I tried it with the colors reversed from what they are now on the wing lettering. The white got lost against the yellow so I made the letters white and the border blue.
I'm building another one of these now. Any color suggestions for the next one?
BTW---your idea for this was great and I really appreciate your help.

White with blue border is actually the authentic scheme.  Good show!

Wow....thank you guys for your great comments.

I'll be taking the plane with me to the three cities on the Tour D' Michigan contest circuit. The Tour is kinda like a sport control line rodeo. The pilots compete in events such as--sport stunt, rat race, combat, balloon bust and a couple others I can't think of off hand. This is the second year of the Tour and it's been pretty cool getting to do some different things with models.
I had some Tour stickers made up to pass out to registered pilots this Saturday in Kalamazoo.

Here is link to the Tour web page----
