Title: Heads Up ! Southeast USA looks to be prime time flying in December
Post by: Cliff Henke on December 06, 2012, 05:24:20 AM
Cape Fear River Area, North Carolina

Weather lady is calling for 70's Dec. 8-9-10, 2012. I think I'll get the charger out and do some laps with the Brodak 38 Special / OS46LA.   D>K

Maybe finish off the last of the Powermaster for the season and start fresh in 2013.   y1

Now if I can get the wife to fix us a picnic, mw~  the weekend will be flying once again in 2012.

Hope the weather is right in your part of the woods !  Happy Holidays !
  H^^

Overcast and raining here in Central CA. Next week it's up into the 60's and clear; I'll go fly then.

Waiting on the fog to clear to see of I go on my cross country or not. After that, I'll be at the field for the last time this semester to get some last flights in before I crack down and start being a real college student invpreparation for exams

All systems are go, fog is lifting, showers are moving out, humidity is dropping, chicken is thawing, beverages are cooling. one would think I'm pumped !   #^

Charger plugs in at 9:00 pm EST.

Looks like temps. are the same, wind speed steady @ 7 mph from SSW.  <=

Every lap will be in Honor of every Hero on the day and days following December 7, 1941.

I will never turn enough laps to do justice but I will also never forget those who gave.

Now if I can keep those funny looking aircraft off my back out of Bragg, I might be able to bring home the aircraft I took to fly ?   HB~>

Beautiful day here in central N.C.. Went down to the old grass runway where the old Erwin Airport used to be located. 69* 5 mph SW wind. Decided to fly the 25 year old Twister w/a unmuffed K&B 40 @ 9000 rpm's and it flew like new. All I had to do was backout the needle 3/4 turn and she fired on the 3rd flip. So I got some HONOR laps in for local WWII pilots in the area. I feel good about that, being I'm a military brat myself.

Another cool thing I just thought of was, this is where my father and uncle took me in 1969 to fly my 1st control line plane. A Cox PT19 .049. The blue and yellow one that had rubber bands holding the wings I believe ?  It flew too ! 1st attempt. That's the best I've flown since. I had expert help because both adults with me had actual aircraft in the old tin hangers.   D>K

One problem, I have to sneak my riding lawn mower 4 miles from the house at daybreak in the morning to cut me a 180' circle real close to the ground, then sneak back home. Eat breakfast, hang out awhile then head back to the site like I had never been there. Sometimes you got to do what you got to do ? No harm to anyone, no houses, no one in site, just an old runway with a factory a 1/2 mile down on the other end of the runway.

Gates are always locked everytime I go to ask if they mind me flying. Today the town police came to watch sitting in their squad cars and left when I was through. Never said a word. I try to ask everywhere I go but this place seems it doesn't want to be asked. We'll see tomorrow ?

Hope others got a chance to paint the sky in December before Christmas. Later Cliff

I celebrated the end of my semester by getting 3 flights on my Vector before dark.  It's starting to become a good flying airplane now and becoming happy with it.  I realized today that my reference point for my bottoms is only around 3 1/2-4 feet tall.  Turns out I've been flying a little low for the past 10 flights.

Hey most judges will give you great points for those low bottoms,  especially if you are smooth while doing it.   Glad you are enjoying school and it looks like you are not getting homesick.   Bet, grandpa misses ya tho.
