Those look pretty nice...have you tried them yet? I see where they have CF but they start at 18" i think...they do have noce looking CF spinners too...

Interesting that they have a paddle blade and a scimitar blade version of some sizes. I'd never heard of them before.
I'm a little suspicious about this "sdshobbyusa"...anybody gotten anything from them? Where are they? Some years ago, I ordered a Casio stopwatch online...it turned out the seller (not on eBay) was in Malaysia. I couldn't tell from their website. It all worked out ok, tho. I'm trying to be a little cautious with my credit card number. :-\ Steve

They are Chinese as far as I can tell. If you google Hawk propeller you will see them on Alibaba, ect.
I am interested in trying a few, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Yeah, I am sure the props are likely made in PRC. I'm just wondering where the store is. y1 Steve

From what I can see they look pretty good. They seem to nave a nice array of sizes that fit well into CL also. I admit I've never heard of them before but I'm going to order a few to try!
Nice find!

Area code 951 indicates Southern California, I find nothing on their site giving physical location.

Thanks for pointing these out!
So, slightly off topic, and I can post elsewhere.... but how would one go about making wood props? For example, a lot of good ones seem to be laminated. I understand how a prop is made, but how would one make quantities of wood props? Maybe a CNC machine?

XOAR info says they're made on a "CNC Router". I have no idea how one is configured, despite having worked in many machine shops setting up, programming and operating CNC milling machines. Having a "router" in the garage, and a "router" for my computer doesn't help, either! ;) Steve
PS: I'm in a great mood today. Don't know why...oh, yes, I do! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Lol! !
But yeah, understanding machine tooling is only half the battle. I've made free flight props. But, I wouldn't want to spend that kind of time doing it for other people! Haha.
I think making quality, affordable wood props specially for CL would be neat

I have the 11-4 A type (paddle blade) and they are very good. The blade area and pitch distribution is excellent. In fact I'm considering to use the 11-5 or maybe 11-7 to make a 3 blade carbon fiber electric prop.

Does anybody know about the brands of "Brodak" props? Are the new BY&O props made in house or are they made in PRC? Isn't there another brand of wood prop Brodak makes? I seem to recall another, but can't remember any details at all. D>K Steve

Have you checked your Hawk prop on a pitch guage? The propeller looks nice.
(I used Motorman's picture from his Brodak 40 post)

OTHER PROPS
http://www.xoarintl.com/
http://www.vesspropellers.com/
Vess did not have the electric versions last time I looked,
both Vess and Xoar make beautiful wood props, every one I have is balanced right out of the package ( do NOT take this to mean you should not check)

The bad thing is that on most of these props you have to mail order. My LHS carries stuff for the bigger RC type planes.

Check out Falcon props. Very nice. Look like a CNC clone of APC props made from German Beechwood. I ordered a few from a business out around Salina, Kansas.

Measured the Hawk 11-4, Both blades were dead even, from station 4 -12 it was a 4 pitch. Just did a quick measure on the flat part of the face so probably about 4-1/4 pitch on the cord line.
Allot of high quality wood props about these days.

I switched to Falcon props on my gas R/C stuff, it was like adding 10 cc's. Love that they come painted too.
