The shape of the tail feathers reminds one of a Veco, but I have no clue which model or if Veco did a profile.  All I have owned were Warriors and a Chief with built up bodies.

I'd say it looks a LOT like an AJ Firecat.

With the exception of the landing gear that is an A-J Aircraft Firecat.  Looks like someone replaced the flimsy gear with longer stronger legs.  The real deal will have the fuselage down between the center ribs.  I built the first one when I finally had enough coins to get one.  The second one I still have that cost me in the dollars.  The third one was a kit that was sent to someone.   I know it will fly great for you as mine always flew better than I could. #^ #^ H^^

One more difference -- didn't the Firecat have top and bottom wing spars? The canopy is customized, probably, as the only pics I've seen had a token windscreen.

Edit: Interesting "tailwheel"! Are the sides of the fuselage "sculptured" or is that a lighting anomaly?

Hello Jimmy
Thats a Firecat you can see the picture of the kit at   www.americanjuniorclassics.com  Which shows the firecat and other models made by the great Jim Walker. I don`t know how long this site is going to be up since the guy doing reproductions of some of the products Mr.Frank Macy is no longer with us.

Well I got off the can and went to the shop.  Pulled the Firecat off the hook and brought it in to take pictures.  This is the kit that was reproduced some years back.  Even the box was the same as the orignal and I tried my best from memory to finish it like the first one I had.  The lettering is new idea tho.  Maybe get it ready for VSC instead of the AAS.  Note also there are no spars in the wing as the original was also.  The cockpit is just as the original kit.  I made the landing gear as close to the original as I could, but of thicker material.  Using kitchen light for the sparless wing pic and the wife is holding the filthy thing for the side view.   H^^
