Nobler coming along
« on: April 24, 2008, 06:26:27 PM »
I finally got back to working on my Nobler after a brief delay to take care of a few health probems and knocking a few items off of the 'new house' Honey do list.  I won't have it done for Huntersville but hope to have it finished for the Brodak Flyin.  I decided to plank the wings after reading some of the comments about weight not being a huge issue.  My last Nobler was only 38 oz.  The dif between cap strips and planking was less than an ounce.  I'm using the rudder from a Nobler I built in about 1959.  It's shown in the pic.  I was going to use the entire tail section but some of the wood was brittle.  Here are a couple of pics.

Looks good Sam!!!

I don't know a whole lot, but you might want to adjust the rudder just a tad. LL~

The "Nobler" is looking real good.  Is the kit now laser cut?  Also I never thought of sheeting the whole wing on a "Nobler".  Should make finishing easier.  I am waiting on my "Gieske Nobler" to get here.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

Yep it's the 52 Nobler.  The majority of the parts for this kit are now laser cut.  Still a ton of blocks to carve.  Good to hear from you Pat.  See you in June.

Sam,
How long have they been laser cut?
My kit was purchased in 1997,yes I'am a
slow builder.
Working upside down, downunder it take's
a little longer.
Paul.

I switched this kit to mostly laser cut about a year ago when John ran out of nobler kits.  He's doing that with all kits as they run out.  I think the next one to be switched will be the Cardinal.  I know they are currently out of stock.  There are a couple of kits to come out when some new balsa comes in.  Last time I was at Brodaks a couple of weeks ago the new balsa had not come in yet.  The All American Senior will be the next kit to come out.
