Since my heart attack I have Aspirin everywhere. In my flight box, in the cars, in my office, in my shops, in the house. In a heart attack an aspirin may save your life or the life of a friend. Keep them handy and give one or two if there is any reason to believe someone is having a heart attack.

Let someone know you're having a problem. Call 911 and have someone meet the paramedics at the field gate.
i think it is also important to know where the closest emergency room or fire station is. This is usually for the guy that sticks his hand in the prop.
Unfortunately, as our modelling population gets older, this stuff happens more often.

Not just aspirin, but chili powder. At the first sign of a potential heart attack swallow the chili powder. It will open up the capillaries and blood vessels in response to the chili. It is a blood vessel dilator. This may be sufficient to restore blood flow until First Responders arrive and hopefully prevent total blockage

I have been on the low dose asprin regimine for about 15 years, Along with other maintenance medicine. My dad had his 1st heart attack at 41 ..I am 66 and none for me !!!

I keep fresh aspirin in the house, gets replaced as it expires, about every 2 years.  I ended up foisting it on my mother in law a few months ago.  Happily it turned out that she was not having a heart attack, and that the results of a heart cath and echocardiogram showed the same results as a few years ago. 

The end result was her medicine was determined to be not correct and she was taken off of some, which has significantly improved her health and brain function.  Her "words with friends" (Scrabble) scores went up, and she is beating me regularly.  I have had to step up my game.

Yes, for most, aspirin is a good thing, but I,  for one, am alergic to it. Beware who you dose with it! Oh good, he didn't die of the heart attack, he  Axpxiated!

I hope you wear a bracelet stating that you are allergic to Aspirin. The first thing the EMTs did when they came when I had my heart attack was to give me two 325 mg. Aspirin.

Like many on the forum I also take an aspirin every day. However it is a low dose 81MG. Helps in controlling high blood pressure in conjunction with the other medicines. Been doing it for over 20 years with excellent results.

The aspirin is a blood thinner so don't forget band aids too(or duct tape).

If you must self treat be very aware of all the effects of aspirin.  It's a powerful anticoagulant which usually helps during a heart attack but can also cause one if the pain isn't a heart attack.  It may also trigger a stroke, or in the worst case a hemorrhage  in the brain or GI tract.  Long term use of more than the 81mg pill can cause ulcers and hemorrhage anywhere from the stomach on down.  There are a whole host of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that interact with each so taking more than one type can be really bad- ibuprofen(Advil, Motrin)  or, naproxen(Aleve).

But the 81mg aspirin is often prescribed because it helps prevent blood clots.  Ladies need to be particularly careful with these drugs.
